How do Latin Americans feel about the Indigenous people?

Talking of Leo Messi, here's a boxing-forum article about him, despite the fact he isn't a boxer. It all stems from the fact that fellow Argentine, and boxer Sergio Martinez has been the subject of an "is he white" discussion in the online North American internet boxing world.

This thread is discussing whether Messi is white. Any non-American who has seen him will know this is hilarious, whilst some of the Americans here will say he isn't white due to reasons discussed previously!

The most white European worshipper in Latin America is Argentina. I went there and they want nothing to do with a "black latin america" They love European culture, and White is their God. Ive noticed that they are very proud people who love their culture, American culture and European culture and thats it. Its funny because they want to be European so bad but have third world problems like poverty, corruption, etc...

The thing is, Argentina is basically a European country. It's SO European it's like its been moved from Europe by a gigantic crane and placed in South America.

Its not so much worship of white people there, as they are themselves white people.

Were. They are not really happy about it, but half of Paraguay and Bolivia have been mass-emigrating to Argentina. Usually Argentinians never mix with Paraguayans, Bolivians (Bolivian in itself is an insult there) and don't get them started about Brazilians(they really really hate Brazillians for some reason), however, it's starting to change, slowly.

What do I think about indigenous people in my country? Same what I'd think of anyone, they are Colombians and that's it. We don't have many left in Antioquia or Medellin, because the ones who didn't flee weren't really friendly with the Basques that came in to the area. In fact, part of the big rivalry between half of this country and this region is the fact that they came from the core of Spain mixing themselves with the huge muisca and chibcha population. In Antioquia, where Medellin is, the Basques came in first, and instead of mixing with the natives, they killed them or made them commit suicide. After that, they took it against the rest of Colombia.

Funny history, heh. [Image: blush.gif]

What I can say from personal experience is I can tell u for sure, me being a white man I get a whole lot of love from the ladies here in Peru. I've never been approached so much in my life in such a short period of time. One girl pulled me in her taxi to go to the club with her. I got there and wasn't into her so as soon as I got in the club I ditched her and walked to the bar. Before I even get to the bar another girl grabbed me and started dancing with me, we started making out but she started to bore me, so I walked up to another girl who saw me making out with the previous girl and started dancing with her. When I grabbed her and asked to dance she seemed like I was doing her a favor. It's just a shame the quality here is shit.

Argentina isn't as purely European as they'd like to think. With modern-day genetics it's been found that on average they may be only 65% European! This is increased by northern more indigenous Argentines but its been broken down by region and even the most European parts of the country had about 20% non-European (basically indigenous plus a little African) ancestry.

There are purely white people throughout Latin America, but the truth is that most white people South of the U.S. border have more indigenous and African blood than their counterparts here in America and Europe.

That's pretty interesting. However, much of Southern Brazil's white population are second generation immigrants from Italy, so they wouldn't be mixed. Similar to much of Argentina, they experienced huge immigration from Europe in the last century which came from Italy, Spain and even Germany. Doesn't get whiter than that haha.

I also wanted to add that in the US, the media kind of wants us to have a certain image of Latinos and that image is that a Latino is someone with brown skin and black hair. We have been told about this since we were born as to say to us that there is no such thing as a white latino. And this brainwashing comes from Hollywood. The tan skinned, with black hair look is a more exotic look than a white Latino. In American marketing a Brown skin Latina sells more than a White skinned latina. That why you saw Alba there with George Lopez kind of being thrown off and surprised she had a lot of European in her.

Some examples of this is Sofia Vergara. When Sofia came to the United States she came from Colombia and had blonde hair. People in Hollywood told her that she will have to dye her hair black if she wanted to make it in America so she did. Also she was told not to try to lose her thick accent because literally shes a Latin product. Another case is Salma Hayek who has black hair and brown features and a very thick accent. These women try not to lose their accents because thats what Hollywood wants. This is also the case for the Miss Universe competition who is owned by Donald Trump. Notice all the Latinas who win that competition like Miss Mexico, Miss Venezuela and even the last Miss USA are never white or blonde, thats because what sells and what is exotic is the more tan skined Latina look. Thats why you never see Miss Uruguay, Argentina, or Spain winning it because they dont have that perceived Latin look that the West like.

So I can see many Americans getting confused over Canelo being Mexican or not or Messi being Latino for instance, because we in the US have been told that a Latino or a Mexican is not white but brown with black hair.

Well, you even have people on this forum who say they don't like Mexican girls or that they're ugly which makes no sense. I don't know what kind of girls you could be into if you don't like white, light brown, dark brown or black ones.

That thing about "mejorar la raza" is really true in Mexico, there is a really implicit racism against indigenous people in Mexico.

All the presidents and wealthy people in Mexico are from other origins (Spanish, Basque, Lebanese, etc)

There is also a light stormfront version, "Mexico Criollo", a forum that classifies people based in anthropological studies to see if they are "creole" enough and not indigenous:

(in spanish)
http://mexicocriollo.mforos.com/1764001/...r-la-raza/

Almost all the white mexican girls that I know would be kicked out of their houses if they bring a "pinche indio" (fuckin amerindian). And the brown people tell to their sons/daughters: "Please marry a white, we need to improve the race" (mejorar la raza)

Just for the record I like all kinds. Im not very picky when it comes to girls and race. Im just letting people know what goes on in the Hispanic community in general from experiences with family and my own analyzes of what goes on in Hollywood thats all. Just because my dad is probably a racist doesnt mean I am. Im just letting people here know what goes on and I like to keep it 110% without the political correctness. I do agree though that I think its ridiculous that many people here do not like Mexican girls which is appalling to me but I just think the people who say that havent been to the right places because if you know where to look Mexican girls are fucking amazing.

They were even better twenty, fifteen, or even ten years ago. I'm just glad to have lived through that. Years ago, I rented a small apartment for a week located directly above what was then one of the best, or even the best, strip clubs in the entire country of Mexico. The girls would come upstairs and see me after they finished their shifts. It really didn't get much better than that. I went back to that strip club two summers ago and it was 100% single mothers and grenades. The apartments above the club were in such disrepair that they looked like they were on the verge of either being condemned or torn down. They have been condemning many buildings in that area in recent years.

American Chicanos are a lot more "color blind" in this regard. Having said that, there are tons of parallel, none of which pertain to blowing a fuse when their lily white daughters brings home a stnikin Indio. There are tons of white Mexicans living in the US, and I know a ton personally. I have lots of white Mexican family living in Mexico whom I visit regularly(not really), these aren't old money white Mexicans but they are considered vastly guero. You could see from old family photos that as the family members accumulated some respectable income throughout some generations they had more and more lighter skinned spouses etc. Only exception is a cousin who was dating a gorgeous India Maria who comes from some money. I was happy for him but I could tell that some family members were a bit uncomfortable with him dating her.

Oh yeah I know but I just feel that the people who say that Mexican girls in general are ugly havent been to Mexico or do not know the diversity of it.

I used to live in Texas and in the US I think hands down the State of Texas has the best Mexican girls more so than in LA in my opinion. I just to frequent this little Mexican club in Dallas that is strictly just Mexican people. I would sometimes be blown away by some of the Mexican girls that are there. Heres the club:

Midwest, you seem to know your stuff here. I'm black and I definitely dig Latinas a lot including Mexican girls. I tend to only like the white or mestiza ones, the indigenous ones don't do it for me. Not because they are dark per se(I do like black girls afterall), but because of their facial features.

If I did meet a dope Mexican girl I wanted to get serious with, do you think there's any way around that old world mentality that the families may be wrapped up in? Or is it as hopeless as trying to get with a white girl in Alabama with a family that's in the Klan? It still blows my mind that in 2013 people act like they're still living in colonial times using terms like "mejoranda la raza". It's pitiful to anyone that has an sociological education.

I'm actually quite interested in exploring more liberal and cosmopolitan parts of Mexico where women might be more open to dating guys who are different from them. The times I have been to Mexico, most the women I encounter come across as very traditional, Catholic and provincial and I just don't get the vibe like they're into anything but Mexican guys from their same culture.

@Speakeasy:
I also like the Mestizas and white latinas as well more than the indigenous ones, but hey to each its own. I dont really think its as bad as dating the white daughter of a KKK leader, but I think that the majority of Mexican girls in the US are down with anybody. If a black guy comes to her with good game, she will be receptive. The girl is not the problem, the problem will probably be getting cockblocked by her whole community. Mexican guys are very territorial about their sisters, daughters, cousins, nieces and will go ham if they see them bring home a black guy. Now having said that, it is very possible to get yourself a Mexican girl because I know of some black friends who have, but theyll be obstacles you will have to overcome. Heres a clip from the movie Next Friday explaining what im talking about when Ice Cube goes and tries to holler at the Mexican girl. I know the makers of the movie meant it to be funny, lol, but I like the fact that they send a message to many black guys who are ever thinking of trying to get themselves a Mexican girl and the small obstacles they will have to face and to see if its really worth it or not. Now having said that, this issue is specifically only in the United States with Mexican American girls because girls in Mexico are a whole different beast.

Now when it comes to girls in Mexico, they are a different breed. Ive said the same thing to Urban Renaissance man a while back in another thread. Mexico will be a good destination for many black Americans. Racism in Mexico is strictly only geared towards Mexicans and not really towards blacks. There arent many blacks in Mexico and if there are they will get attention. The only blacks these girls see are in magazines, music rap videos on TV or American movies. These women are very curious about black Americans. When I went there last time a lot of them would ask me "Is it true there are black guys in the US who look like Will Smith?" or questions pertaining to their curiosity towards black guys. A lot of these girls love rap and think the whole gangsta style black thing is cool. If you go to Mexico looking like someone from a rap video without overdoing it you will get eye fucked by the chicas, especially in the Northen parts of Mexico and near the border, not so much in places like Mexico City or Guadalajara or touristy places or resorts, but Central and Northern Mexico, cities like Monterrey, Aguascalientes, Sinaloa you can clean house because many of the dudes in these places dress like how I showed in an earlier video with cowboy boots and hats, and thats all they know. Also when I went to Brownsville Texas and anywhere in the Valley I saw many black cats doing very well with the Mexican girls there and not surprisingly many of the girls in the Rio Grande Valley area come from the Northern Parts of Mexico. Im not surprised by many of the black guys here claiming they did well in Monterrey because I can really see it. Also I dont know if anybody has had the same experience or can confirm this, but is it just me or are many girls in Mexico very open about admitting they like porn? It was my experiece that almost everytime I was with a girl down there they would always ask me if I wanted to watch porn with them, or would ask me "Lets go buy a porn" like it was no big deal and many would ask me "Is it true what they say about black guys and penises?" For real if anybody had experiences with the Mexican girls in Mexico and had a similar experience like this, please let me know lol. Also I dont buy the whole thing about Mexican girls being conservative and traditional. Many of them will say they are but if a good looking guy with game knows how to push her buttons she will be down to anything. I feel Mexican girls are very closet sluts who will go back home the next day after fucking a guy to her family and act miss goody goody. Mexico is changing and its importing a lot of customs from America and a lot of girls want you to believe they are conservative but in reality they arent as conservative as you think.

Also if you have some time, I strongly recommend you listen to this video. Tariq Nasheed talks about how black guys should step to Mexican girls and Latinas in general and getting through the obstacles of being with a Mexican girl. He also goes on to talk about blacks gaming Latinas in other countries its really great stuff. He gives great advice its a half an hour long but real worth it so If you have time you should really listen. He goes over in more detail what ive been discussing for a while here.

I hope I was of some help to you. Overall, Game will prevail for blacks in regards to Mexican girls. Good luck.

How do Latin Americans feel about the Indigenous people?

i havent read anyother responses here so i may be repeating somethings. this thread has some life to it so i feel like as someone who has lived and traveled throughout latin america my opinion might be of some merit.

first off outside of argentina which is practically homogenous(european) most of the almost 2 dozen countries which make up latin america are a mix of many different races. most people have some indigenous blood even if its only 30% so the level of hate towards indigenous is never that extreme. that said the ideal here is having european anscestry.

there is little to no political correctness in latin america so people joke about race much more openly than they do in the US. however, doing this releases racial tension so it rarely erupts in violence directed at other races like you see in the US. in mexico i am guero which mean white guy. there is nothing bad about it. its just the way it is. if your brown you will be called morenito/morenita or if your black expect negrito/negrita. its not a big deal.

latin america is very class based. the US is also but its really unspoked/not polically correct to talk about it there meanwhile in latin america its just the way of life. what ive noticed is that if your really brown or black you will (generally) not be part of the upper middle/upper class in latin america. people in the upper class here are basically european and many still have family back there. since the upperclass influences the culture this means the culture of latin america is largely eurocentric. this permeates throughout society and people cling to their european roots much more than there indigenous roots. well, this leads indigenous people left out of society and ultimatly viewed as outsiders.

on personal note, ive seen indigenous removed/not allowed in certain clubs. ive known rich families who once they found out there daughter was dating a moreno/indeginous have him beat up as a warning to stay away. ive heard the term indio uttered as a racial slur many times also.

in conclusion its hard for me to fully understand it since im an outsider and many of the biggest racists ive known towards indians were part indian themselves. i think its a complicated relationship to say the least.

Yes I can also say that in Mexico political correctness does not exist like it does in the states where people here are scared of sounding racist or scared to offend anyone., people in Mexico do not get offended if someone called them "Gordo" (fat) "Chaparro" (short) and so on. Me being a Mexican American I had to get used to that as a kid because I was a little on the heavy side when I was little and when I would go back to Mexico to see family boy did I have a tough time dealing with people calling me "Gordito".

But yeah I can say that Mexico is a racist country towards anyone with a lot of indigenous features. Its very sad and as a Mexican American I hate it and it sickens me. It is very known in throughout in Latin America that Mexico is very racist and many countries like Argentina for instance take advantage of this. Mexico being a powerhouse in Latin America gets a ton of immigrants from Argentina. There has been a surge and explosion of Argentinians in Mexico specifically Mexico City going by the thousands. Many Argentinians who are very white go to Mexico in hopes of landing a more lucrative job in higher power and marketing just based on their looks. They know they will be able to beat the more browner skin Mexican for any job in Mexico. Thats why if your in Mexico City you will see a lot of Argentinian waiters and waitresses in restaurants and many bartenders as well. Even the "novelas" or Soap Operas are full of Argentinian actors. Many Argentinians go to Mexico in hope of making it big by trying to use their white features to gain important positions. We will mostly see these Argenitians in Condesa in Mexico City.

How do Latin Americans feel about the Indigenous people?

Really? I know some argentinians went to Mexico for work, but not in any remarcable number.

@Speakeasy:

Good luck.

Thanks, great info man! Yeah I'm well aware how the brothers, fathers, male cousins etc are very protective of "their" women. My first experience really seeing that first hand was in 10th grade in high school. One of the most popular and best looking black dudes in our school was dating a Mexican girl. One day after school I saw this Mexican guy slapping around his Mexican girlfriend and grabbing and abusing her while she tried to fight back. Turned out it was her brother and he was punishing her for dating a black dude. He looked like a cholo or wannabe too.
