France bans paternity testing

These kinds of laws have a big fat target painted all over it, it goes over protected individual rights, on both sides (right to know his real identity in the case o the children).

This goes always both ways. Sure, I can't prove a baby isn't my child, but sure as hell can't prove either that it is. This is what I love about laws banning things, you never know what the side effects and the unintended consequences are.

The court can force you to take a DNA paternity test if the woman says you're the father. It's only banned and punishable for private, male purposes, i.e. men who have doubts and would like to clear them.

Otherwise, splendid idea!

Then it goes both ways too? You could stand by saying is not yours and you would have the test anyways, done by the govt. I don't know France's legislation for false positives, but if this is the case, nothing changes.

For paternity testing a consent by both parents is required in case it is asked primarily by the father to identify if the child is his.Actually a 15-20% of children in marriage do not descend from the husband.
However if the mother asks for paternity test to burden the guy with child support costs the consent of the father in question is not required by the court to order the test.
We see here a classical example of double standard in favour of women.Paternity test not possible without consent of the mother totally possible without consent of the father.

Well, from the governments and society's perspective this is perfectly understandable. Preserving the family unit is far more economically sound than the truth. It is however a MASSIVE step back in rights for the individual.

If this makes (married) french women more likely to spread their legs I guess I'll make the best of the situation and plan a trip soon.

Francois Hollande's France has really taken a very sharp turn towards socialism.

Sounds tempting, but if they reverse the law we'll all be paying child support.

@bacon-I don't think this kind of silly shit will fly in the U.S. anytime soon. France has such a different culture it's not even funny. They've been bending over and taking it for centuries. I think every single country in Europe has beat them up at least once.

Yeah, us Brits are always rescuing them, or beating them at a war, smashed a socialist feminist french chick on the weekend, she got off on me telling her how England always destroyed or rescued their french asses. This joke really made her wet

An elderly gentleman of 83 arrived in Paris by plane. At the French customs desk the man took a few minutes to locate his passport in his carry-on bag. “You have been to France before, monsieur?” the customs officer asked, sarcastically.
The elderly gentleman admitted he had been to France previously. “Then you should know enough to have your passport ready.”
The elderly man said, "The last time I was here I didn't have to show it." "Impossible. Visitors always have to show their passports on arrival in France."
The old man gave the Frenchman a long hard look. "Well, when I last came couldn't find any fucking Frenchmen to show it to."

This is beyond pathetic. I'm just as speechless as all of you guys. This only reinforced my already unshakable belief that the 2 best things I've done so far in my life have been:

1) leaving France.
2) NOT getting married.

Now gotta add a 3rd line to that list:
Leaving Canada for good asap. Can't wait![Image: banana.gif]

I suspect we'll be seeing this in the United States very soon. If I'm not mistaken, paternity testing unless ordered by a court is illegal in the state of New York.

Tuthmosis posted a link a while back of a mail order paternity test. Website explicitly states that they will not mail such packages to addresses within the state of NEw York.
