I don't know the qualifications needed to submit an article to the ROK but would be interested to submit a fitness article.

He should be at the very least in much better shape to be qualified enough to write an article on fitness.

The article wasn't too ridiculous until the body shot came up

The body shot was fine. It's retarded that we expect men to be roided up freaks today. While women become ever more bloated, men are driven to insane lengths to look like 80's action stars.

Agree with Therapsid. The biggest problem with the article wasn't the body shot. He's no fitness model, but slightly above average, maybe 60 or 65th percentile.

No, the problem with the article was that it was a factually incorrect steaming pile of shit.

I can't have sex with your personality, and I can't put my penis in your college degree, and I can't shove my fist in your childhood dreams, so why are you sharing all this information with me?

Realistically I would guess that body shot is in the top 20% of males aged 19-45 in the US. There are large numbers of fatties and skinny guys.

Whilst the sentiment behind your statement is right, I think it's more accurate to say men are expected to be like cover models from Men's Health et al. That said, they should be in shape, similar to said models. Bodybuilders are un-natural looking freaks, but being in great shape is always a good thing.

Before I get hate, I will say that to look like a pro-bodybuilder takes immense effort, yes, although it still doesn't look right.

The whole idea about "functional strength" needs to die in a hole. It's like we have strength training hipsters or something. Gymnasts hate on barbell strength trainers, serious kettlebellers mock raw strength trainers, calisthenics guys hate on anyone who lifts weights, and they all talk shit about bodybuilders.

The process to "body build" begins with the same program as raw strength training as far as barbells are concerned.

It's just that the bodybuilder focuses moreso on aesthetics and sarcoplasmic hypertrophy in all the right places, whereas the pure strength athlete goes for raw strength in whatever lifts he chooses. The bodybuilder still has to be strong as fuck to get that far.

At the end of the day, no one cares how strong you are if you're fat. Bitches don't know the difference between a 200 lb press and a 300 lb press if both athletes look exactly the same. They only know what they see.

I agree with everything you said. However, those douches that come to the gym and spend 45 minutes doing curls still annoy the fuck out of me.

Yeah, totally. If they don't even build a baseline level of strength first, before they start doing stupid shit like pec dec work and dumbbell curls, they're beneath contempt in my book.

We have this joke at my college to shame guys into deadlifting. We say "Every day at [insert college here] is arm day!".
