U.S.'s youngest female billionaire

I was expecting a totally different type of article...

Lynsi Torres, enigmatic 30-year-old owner of In-N-Out burger chain, revealed as U.S.'s youngest female billionaire

Quote:Quote:

The youngest female billionaire in the U.S. has made a fortune on fast food.

"Has made" would imply she did something to get these billions, right?

Quote:Quote:

Torres, who has no college degree and little business training, inherited the West Coast-based company from her grandparents, Harry and Esther Snyder. Torres's family has transformed the couple's initial, tiny drive-thru shop into an estimated $1.1 billion empire.

That's not even the best part...

Quote:Quote:

The hamburger heiress, who has been married three times, was named head of the company in 2010 following a series of deaths in the family...

...Torres received half ownership of the company when she turned 30 and will receive the second half when she celebrates her 35th birthday

Probably wouldn't bang unless drunk.

...

Speaking of In-N-Out Burger, how delicious is that shit, my west coast friends?

Anthony Bourdain said on an episode of the Joe Rogan podcast that if he were president, he would ensure an In-N-Out Burger in every major American city.

Joe Rogan apparently takes first-time-in-California guests from his podcast to Jack-in-the-Box or In-N-Out Burger.

One of my favorite movies, The Big Lebowski, has Steve Buscemi saying that In-N-Out burger is good.

So, west coasters, how awesome is In-N-Out? We got Jack-in-the-Box in Cincinnati last year and I haven't consumed fast food from any other chain since... Based on the hype I've been praying we got an In-N-Out burger soon.

Completely serious.

Until last year we had your standard McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King etc. Plus the occasional White Castle or Rally's (a.k.a. Checkers)

One of our suburbs got a Jack-in-the-Box which required the local sheriff to direct traffic for the first few weeks. Then another neighborhood a few miles from downtown got one, and it's been doing pretty good too.

In-n-Out burgers are really tasty, but I prefer McDonald's fries. The thing about In-n-Out, you have to eat it within 15-20 minutes or the quality starts to deteriorate.

Jack in the Box got old pretty quick once I started driving. That sucks you don't have a better fast food selection MSW. Why the hell would someone take a new person to fast food places? I can't believe there's no better hole in the wall burger spots than those 2.

Same thing happened when a Sonic opened up in town. Police were on site for a few weeks.

I knew this broad was in line to inherit the chain for years, and I was worried that she would fuck up what's probably the best fast-food hamburger in the country. The old grandmother was reportedly apprehensive about leaving the thing to her, which is why she doesn't get the whole thing at once.

Part of the reason it remains delicious is that it's privately held by one family. There's no bullshit franchising, where individual owners can cut corners and tinker with minor details, slowly diluting and changing the product. A few years back--when the grandmother was still alive--there was talk that this broad favored a franchising model to "grow the company." It may grow, but the product is going to suffer.

After like 65 years of a slow, controlled, strategic growth, she would open the doors wide open.

I immediately discount the opinions of anyone who raves about In N Out. It's great for a $2 burger, but it can't compete with a $5 or $10 burger. It's just a gussied up McDonald's Burger. I'm still astounded as to how people get so excited over something so pedestrian. It just shows all the people who think they're too good for McDonald's are really just phonies and posers. I grew up never eating fast food more or less, so I'm always surprised at how people lust after such bland food.

I used to think Fatburger was amazing, but it turns out the Westwood Village one is (plus it got a shoutout in a Bret Easton Ellis novel!), and the other ones are just ok.

PS: Tommy's > In N Out.

Sarah Blakely is the nation's youngest self-made billionaire - en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sara_Blakely - pretty impressive story, and she's cute. I thought of her when I saw the thread topic.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was starting to think there ain't no good, greasy, hole-in-the-wall burger spots in Cali for a second.

This is ACTUAL footage of some Cali members looking for a spot at In N Out

In-N-Out is what McDonald's must have been like before it got McDonaldized. It's the top of the low end, as far I as I'm concerned.

The one in West Hollywood is even better. I place Fatburger in a different tier than In-N-Out because of the higher price point.

You've seriously compromised your credibility on hamburger matters with this statement. Tommy's is a slop-house. That brown paste they slap on top of your burger and call "chili" is mystery food that belongs in a school cafeteria.

Lol I'm a whore for chili, guilty as charged.

I went to the WeHo one recently, and it was nothing special. The Westwood one always charred and seasoned my burgers to perfection. I'd get a quadruple king burger (aka a 2 lb burger aka meat salad), and the cool Hispanic dude working the counter would give me a free drink.

Like you said, if you have to say In N Out is the best for its price tier (which is plausible), why would you get excited about a $2 burger 3000 miles away when you can spend $5 to get a better one near you?

THAT'S WHATS UP BITCHES

Man when she gains full control of the company, you know she'll dump/fire the guy who has been running in on behalf of the trust. They both dislike each other, but her fortune can be attributed to how the guy has managed the company.

Anyways talk about winning the sperm lottery mixed in with lucky family deaths. Still would bang, grab a burger and tell her no contraception or abortion, collect alimony, child support and burgers for life! Oh well I guess more money for her Christian and Drag Racing causes. When I originally read the article I read it as Drag Queen, and I wouldn't have been surprised.

Lucky Boy in Pasadena has great burgers. I like Tommy's without the chili. The extra large tomato slice is key for them.

Hodad's in SD is really good, too. Baker's is a nice small chain in the Inland Empire. But there are so many great hole-in-the-wall burger places in SoCal that you really don't need to go to In-n-Out. But I admit to going there every few months.

Of those sit down burger places that have popped up in recent years -- Burger Lounge in San Diego is my favorite (there should be some in the LA area soon). The Counter is OK. Same with a few others, like Umami. One that sucks is Five guys. It's absolute garbage. Cheap, shitty meat, greasy and overpriced. Another one that disappoints is Slater's 50/50. It was meh.

The fact that this girl couldn't be bothered with college, has little business experience, has been married three times, and had the keys to the kingdom handed to her on a silver platter tells me one thing: One way or another, she'll be the end of this company.
