I haven't been to Monterrey (Mexico's second city) or Guadalajara but I hear those are nice cities. I might check out Guada sometime. Monterrey is said to be a little dangerous but I know a guy who goes there all the time and has no problems. Mty is similar to DF in that it's a business city. Most American corporations with a presence in Mexico have their main offices there. You would probably find a good number of English speakers.
For a short stay I would look into both. Personally I have an account with certain hotels so I usually go with that if possible but airbnb is also nice. Since DF is a business destination there are no problems bringing visitors to your hotel room. Just make sure with airbnb that the area is in or very close to Condesa, Polanco, or Chapultapec.
My spanish is cool. I can easily visit Spanish-speaking countries alone and do fine.

HC, fantastic sheet as usual.
1) Do you think there is any other city in Mexico that is worth going to instead of MC that also has similar city amenities and venues?
2) For short stay do you recommend hotel or ABnB? I guess since this is not a sex destination, there is no stigma to hotels. But if you went for a week, would you stay in hotel or ABnB?
3) How is your Spanish?

@HC or anyone else with experience with DF, is there a love hotel scene there like there is in Brazil or some other Latin countries? I'm sure many girls that aren't married live with their families. Is this a socially-acceptable option that exists down there? I think it's awesome that in Brazil it's not considered insulting to take a girl to one of those.

Yeah they have hotel de pasos which mean "pass-through hotels." Not sure how they work because I didn't use it. I used that in Argentina which is similar to Mexico in that it's overwhelmingly Roman Catholic.

HC, out of curiosity, what kind of budgets do you typically have for these types of 2-3 day jaunts? I'm thinking it's probably $1000/trip including all expenses (flight, hotel, cabs, drinks, midgets, etc.) Is that close?

Hard to say. It varies depending on where I go, when, and if I'm alone or with people. I make sure I have more than enough to cover what I need and I always do a cost-benefit analysis once on the ground when deciding where to go and what to do. I used to do longer trips but started doing shorter, extended weekend, trips about six months ago.

Agreed on all comments Germanico. I'll still check out Pata Negra when I go this weekend but I'll make sure I get there earlier.
The girl I met there is retarded. I doubt we'll link up. We're friends on Facebook. She's one of those annoying "instagram models." Constantly updating her status and uploading pics. All of her pics are those professionally done photos. Really annoying.
I think this time around I'll do Condessa earlier and then hit up those clubs in Polanco if I don't find success.

I'm heading to Mexico City in 2 weeks and didn't really see a need to start a new thread thanks to the info here and on the other threads but I did have some things I wanted to run past you guys.
First off I'm pretty much going for the USA-Mexico World Cup Qualifier but staying in Condesa for 9 days and making a trip out of it. This will be my first trip solo and my first trip out of the country in 7 years(damn).
I'll hit up a bunch of touristy and cultural shit, restaraunts, bars, blah, blah... With that said if anyone has a recommendation that hasn't yet been mentioned I'm all for it.
1, I have a fairly flashy watch that was about $550 US but catches the eye and probably looks more expensive than it is, should I leave it home?
2, HC you mentioned feeling overdressed for Condesa. Are we talking suited down, slacks and dress shirt with nice shoes?
3, Since I'm going solo do you think I really have to worry about someone trying to snag my iPhone if I ask them to take a picture of me with it?
4, Will I be able to find Magnum condoms or should I bring enough from US?
5, Will the GNC in Condesa have ACV?
I know the watch & iPhone shit is mostly common sense but still looking for input. I'm pretty fucking excited for the whole trip and being I'm 5'11", fair-skinned with blue eyes I'm hoping to be a big hit with the chicanas.

Do you speak Spanish? Yeah for Condessa I was dressed up. It was overkill. For Polanco clubs, definitely dress up.
If you stay in Condessa and Polanco and other nice areas, you won't have to worry but I would recommend leaving anything too valuable to you at home. You can also just lose shit while traveling. It's not worth it and it's not important to your game. Just you being a foreigner in DF will be good enough. You obviously have money just by being there so no need to flaunt. That's more for the States not overseas.
Buy ACV tablets from the States and carry it when you travel. Bring your favorite condoms from the States. I bring my own when I travel.
In the nice areas of DF where you'll be everyone has iPhones.

I'm pretty sure you mean chilangas, not "chicanas." Chicanas are typically found a little north of the border between Mexico and the United States.

HC - minimal Spanish learned from working in a Restaraunt. I guess I should leave the watch and ipad at home, thanks.
Metenguero - yeah I'm not cultured enough yet to know the difference, as long as they have tits and a vagina. But I'll remember that in case I need to drop it in Convo, thanks.

Mexico is a catholic country, just so you know, there are no condoms for sale down here. Girls use the "pray to jesus I dont get pregnant" method for contraception. Most pharmacies will give you a puzzled look if you ask for condoms, they where outlawed until 1992, when the government tried to modernize the country to appear to be more liberal.
Just bring your own stash. Customs wont give you any trouble as its very unlikely that they have seen one before. If they ask just tell them its french candy.
Dont worry about the Iphone either. Nobody will even think to steal it, they probably wont know what to do with it. Tell them its a death ray and that it shoots sprinkles.
Germanico, I know for sure I saw condoms for sale in Playa del Carmen. Not sure about DF or Oaxaca but I wasn't looking for them and I don't recall them being on display in the pharmacies and corner stores.
I saw quite a few iPhones in DF as well.

I will be there by mid march and I want to stay for a month, so I am working out the logistics. I have 2 clients lined up. Im looking for a room I can rent that doesnt requires me to pay a months deposit up front. I could stay for a couple of days with a girl I met last time, but I think that would work against me in the long run.
