Anything good to do in Rome?

Man - I hate travelling. But my brothers are taking me to Rome as a present.

So - is there anything worth doing there? I don't want to do any of that tourist shit.

Also - are the pizzas better there than elsewhere? I hear they are - but I don't understand why. There is nothing to stop you making nice pizzas anywhere in the world.

Sorry for being downbeat. I am just a pessimist when it comes to leaving my country (the UK).

I think your screwed before you even leave, you have the wrong and negative mindset

Rome, like most popular tourist joints worldwide is one giant scam, serve the tourists the cheapest crap, and charge them top dollar.

Its a ok place, very busy, just watch your wallet, camera etc, most if not all of these petty criminals are Eastern Block gypsy types

There are plenty of cool places outside the UK. Rome might not be one of them. Literally, I've heard it's pretty miserable in the summertime there, so hopefully that's not when you were planning to go. Moreover, this is heresay because I've not been myself, but the general thought is that Italy really isn't the best place to go as far as women are concerned. That being said, it has historical sights like nobody's business, so it would be worth visiting for that alone if you're at all interested. If you're not, then, hey, look on it as a chance to get a change of scenery on your brothers' dime. It's my experience that attitude is key: if you go somewhere expecting it to suck, it will. If you expect to have a blast, you will.

I tought romans did couchsurfers and young tourists.

You wont enjoy shit with that attitude. Do what everybody else does. Drink all night and sleep all day. But then again, there is nothing stopping you from doing that anywhere else in the world.

Hey I'm a fun guy. I just don't like travelling. When I go abroad I end up doing what I would do at home. Sitting around bars, restaurants and cafes reading books. I am just not interested in visiting touristy things since if I were interested in them, I'd rather study them in a book.

It is a bit like looking at a painting. I always seem to learn more by just reading the little description pinned up next to it.

I loved Rome, I just can't remember what it was that I loved about it. Just the vibe of it I guess.

Cute analogy, but you are basically saying you lack imagination, can't appreciate beauty, and can't think for yourself.

But maybe that's what you ment to say.

You need to check out this clocktower, it's pretty amazing.

Here is a great place to get some of that great pizza you talk about.

Why are you on this board? There's plenty of manosphere forums that don't concentrate on travel.

Anyhow, everyone should check out Rome once for the touristy stuff. Some of it is actually quite impressive.

@ Germanico --- Yes, Couchsurfers, Turists and Erasmus Students.

The girls there are much better than in other cities in Italy though and if you have a clear head on the peculiarities of Italians you can do pretty well there. The times I've been there I've ended up with foreigners. People are also pretty open to chatting/conversing with other people they don't know in comparison to other Italian cities. Compare Milan to Rome and Rome is much friendlier. Compared to Bologna maybe a little less. To get to the real Italian goodies though most of the time you need a strong social group, like in the rest of Italy. Most of the time you meet people because you know people. Ie, Hellersville's Catch-22.

Actually, American study abroad girls is where it's at in Rome if you're on a short visit. See my trip report.

But I'd start with focusing on the cultural attractions. If you're not up on your ancient history get good guides.
