I tried Moleskin notebooks, but they are too hipstery and expensive. No bang for the buck. I then bought a bunch of $1 notebook journals and that what I have been using since. I keep them until full, then switch to a new one.
The mind is to create ideas, not to keep them. Its better to rely on the faintest of inks than the sharpest of memories.
Besides, I have found out that if I dont act upon an idea right away (and writing it down is a form of action) it starts decaying immediately. I have had truly eye-opening mind-blowing revelations while in the shower, only to have them gone by the time im done shaving. Perhaps I should keep a sharpie in the shower...
Right now I'm going through years and years of paper, page for page. I'm old school, and still refuse to read a book on my tablet. BUT, I look at the shit I'm going through, and all my "ideas" while drunk and it is laughable, especially when jotting down novel ideas or song lyrics.
Pen and paper is ALWAYS gonna be the best. Even though I've lost so much pussy from writing down a # on the back of a bar receipt. But there's still the tech curve, and I see the utilization for what I have, like being able to type far faster than I write. When things stack up, I'll print them off and stick in an old notebook. At least its not in drunken cursive. My shit looks about as decipherable as the dead sea scrolls.
