Tinder App

Searched the forum but didn't find anything on the Tinder App. Starting a thread for this seems very apropos. Seems very promising to me, so far.

This afternoon I came across a Facebook mobile ad for Tinder. Downloaded it. Just got an iPhone a few weeks ago, so first time I saw / heard of this app. Tinder's an online dating app, which may or may not be a grindr app for straight people(?).

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/tinder/id547702041?mt=8

Anyways, it's an app linked to your Facebook. It WILL NOT post anything to your Facebook (big plus), but uses your FB login for your Profile Picture, age, and other private data harvesting for their own income...fine with me.

Super easy to get started. In the app, you get the Profile Pic of a girl near you and say yes or no. Simple Enough. They only see your yes if they say yes. Also, it shows age, distance from your check in, and related friends, so you can skip if you're concerned about your personal network. All in all, very little risk.

Good leads so far. Anybody have experience with this?

EDIT::::: Tinder seems to be in an interesting place right now with Christmas break. Seems to be a lot of college aged early adopters. The location is based on your check-in point, so finding that lot's of girls are in town only for Christmas break. Not sure if this is good or bad.

EDIT 2::: Updated FB profile pic and decided to race through girls with 'likes' for the Christmas rush. Save time and potentially maximize the seasonality of this.

A guy I know just mentioned this to me today, could be the next big thing. Said he knew sororities forcing their sisters to use it. Not on Android yet, iPhone only.

Forced the sisters to use it? Weird.

I'd suspect the app is sponsoring (paying) the sorority a decent amount to use it so they can fill the results with unique decent looking girls. IF that's the truth, I'm impressed. Very interesting/good marketing strategy, since they need unique users with the facebook oauth.

I honestly wouldn't doubt that considering the results I've come across so far. I'll wait and see the responses I get. I regret not tracking likes/not likes now with response rates. Would be a great study for someone else.

I raced through all the girls in my city. The majority were 18-23. I'm 23, so I initially assumed they were filtered by age. But I got a few 35 y/os, and the algo was noticeably buggy in some respects.

Woah - just tried it out for about 15 minutes, so far it looks really promising. Could definitely be the "next big thing" in online dating, but who knows how these things play out, or if these chicks are just curious about the App and are not really serious about meeting up.

Surprisingly few fatties, and overall better looking and younger girls than those on OKC around here.

One BIG thing they've got going for them is proof that at least some of these girls are real. By connecting through your Facebook account, you can see "mutual friends", which lends a lot of credibility.

Interesting idea.

I just heard about this and downloaded it today. I think it could be huge. Anyone with results or thoughts since thread was started?

Wasn't there another online dating thing that used your facebook to find people with compatiblethe interests outside your friend circle?

Too bad there isn't a straight-person version of Grindr. Look it up and be amazed how easy it is to get ass with an app... if you're gay, that is.

Interesting - this app has a LOT of 18-21 year olds in my area using it. I guess it really is the real thing.

There's like half a dozen "semi-private-facebook-networking-dating" app/sites out there. All of them are pretty similar, but useless unless you get everyone using them. The best thing a dating site can offer in features is a massive amount of people using it.

Not for lack of trying, the success of Grindr is due to male gays just wanting ass. Straight dating is a woman's market for the most part.

For all the younger folks, I recommend the Meetme app +site.
I mentioned it a few days ago, and I've been using it since Sunday and I have gotten boat load of messages from girls (taking initiative surprisingly), with 200 profile views, 120 "friend requests" and 150 messages. (50/50 split local/NA users)
Have two in the pipeline hoping to schedule for next week and strangely enough have been receiving pics.
Compare 4 days of using this to OKC where I only managed one girl since august.

But again, I only really recommend it for the younger players of this forum, I use this site as most of the users are under20years old and I myself just turned 18, unless you get some of the older Que Pasa and MyYearbook users.
I am absolutely surprised at how successful I'm on this site, I seldom get fatties when compared to okc.

Blendr is produced by the same author, and is supposed to be the hetero equivalent, but they just sold it to Badoo - the userbase is exactly the same with both apps apparently.

Just took a look at the tinder app.

The amount of quality girls on there is ridiculous.
I like it so far.

I haven't even seen a girl over 24...and even that old is rare.
Not saying they aren't escorts, but I've seen some that have had common friends.

They are probably paying and subsidizing members to gain traction in order to solve the proverbial "chicken and egg problem" on the User Demand side that new startups must cross. The App has 3/5 stars due to lots of bugs, so I'm going to wait 1-2 weeks until new updates iron those out and then I'll give it a whirl.

Just heard about this today from a friend. Wonder if using it on a college campus would be beneficial (I'd assume yes)...hopefully bugs are fixed soon and I will give it a try.

I've got some matches I need to send messages. What are some good openers for this app since you don't know anything about them other than seeing their pics?

Yeah, I've recommended Meet Me a few times before. It's FULL of white knights, lames, fatties and fuckable girls who think they're 10's though. Kind of like the real world [Image: lol.gif] You have to manuever through the bullshit. Be careful with all of these apps that seem great. They have a lot of fake profiles.

The good thing about these betas is the fact that its largely the typical Vancouver Suburban meathead, they'll only complement the nonfatties, but of course, being beta they rate on each pic "10, girl you're beautiful".

I have seen only 15 fatty profiles, and 10 of those were the first nations from the northern bc reserves.

No fakes, yet...

I'm not on Tinder or anything but have heard about it from two chicks. Not too different from OKcupid but it might be even worse. It's like a chick's dream - she can imagine herself as a little Roman emperor giving the pollice verso to an army of thirsty Betas. With one flick of her finger, she deigns to give her approval or disapproval.

A chick last night confirmed what I suspected of apps like these - legions of guys send her messages and she feels special but she never writes them back because that would be kind of weird.

I've never heard a chick raving about OkCupid but I've had two chicks bring Tinder up in conversation. Their faces lit up as they explained it to me and I sort of shook my head inside in pity.

I just deleted my OkCupid and am feeling more motivation to approach already. I will stay away from Tinder.

I've been using this thing since December now and only lately have I been getting any traction. I go if you use it a bunch in thirsty areas of town with alt of broads then the algorithm will back end you a lot of more down chics. I think also the more chics that accept you the more it will front end your profile. I got some thirsty Asian broad hounding me in this shit and it sas she lives like 5 miles away. I'm weary because I think she's a SIF and probably a big nerd but her face looks cute. I got some Palestinian broad on deck on here too, she's easy to talk to just gotta get it off the app and onto the phone to see where it goes. The Asian bitch is pushy and hurting to make plans, she isn't direct with it but I can read between the lines and that type of eagerness throws me red flags.

I'm averaging a match at least a day on this shit. More and more I think more chics are downloading this thing. I gotta try to transition off it though but so far I got like 7 solid broads I'm chatting to and 4 okay ones, and two more that are probably SIFs. I'm debating going full on troll on it and putting up pics with no shirt on but I need to figure out how to put those pics on facebook but make them private.
