What Are Your Current (Home) Living Arrangements?
12-26-2012, 09:25 AM
There are only two options in Life for living arrangements:
1. Live alone.
2. Live with best friends that know the score, are on the same page, and also swoop multiple girls per week.
If you are doing anything else, you are blowing it in Life.

I'm with G on this one, living alone is preferable but housing costs in prime locations are often sky high and not in everyone's budget so a roommate may be necessary. I'd rather live downtown with a roommate than alone in the burbs or a ghetto part if town.
I've had lots of roommates over the years and agree that if you're going to have one, make damn sure that you have similar interests. Actually some of the best times I've had have been when I lived with other guys who would always be down for going out and were motivating, sometimes when you live alone its easier to fall into a rut of just staying in all the time.

On the first I move into my new place. 5 strangers for roommates, good view, a few hundred 20 year old girls in the same place, across the street from the bar, gym and classes. Super small room, but the logistics and talent make up for it.

Living alone is the best. I wouldn't go back to living with other people. They're always tryingto put their noses into my life.

don't live with someone if you can avoid it. they could always get a new job, start a relationship or move out and you'll have to cover their end of the rent.

I live in a 4 bedroom house with 4 people., Now it is 2 hippy girls and 2 guys. (3 musicians +1 semi pro stripper) and one guy/girl is a couple.
before it was 3 girls and the same guy, who is a circus performer/classically trained musician. The parties are pretty awesome. we are in our late 20s/30s

I live alone. I've lived alone for for entire adult life (i am mid 30's) with one exception. I did a group house thing between jobs back in San Luis Obispo. I do not get lonely or bored. I can't imagine living with other people.

I love my solitude.
If I want to be a slob, I can. If I want to be a neat freak, there's nobody but me to fuck that up.
I can cook what I want, when I want, however I want.
I can take a piss, shit, or shower, and not have someone else banging on the door because nature is calling them, too.
I can fuck a girl at 3 a.m. and not have to hear it from a roommate the next day that we were making too much noise.
I can sleep until 3 p.m. and nobody is there to disturb that sleep. (Also helps that I turn my phone off).
I don't have to worry about my roommate coming up with his share of the rent.
For me the benefits of living alone outweigh the benefits of having a roommate or two.

I think the best part is just walking around in your underwear and watching TV on the couch if you wanted to. with a roomate, that's not gonna happen.

I live alone, if you can swing it, it's the only way to live. I never get lonely or bored, I work a lot but between that the gym, friends and women...I get sick of having people around me, I crave my alone time. Just me and my dog...couldn't be happier.

Thank you for all of your responses guys.
Living alone seems the way to go. At the moment, the only reason why I haven't moved out was due to money worries. However, I already pay £250.00 in rent (including all bills) but then I pay another £200.00 for car insurance on my car. Essentially, I am spending almost £500.00 just by... living and driving at the moment. I was worried about losing my freedom if I got rid of the car, but after discussing it with a few people from work, it seems that driving is not really a viable option until I'm over 25 anyway due to the enormous drop in insurance charges following that.
Plus, as MSW has kind of suggested, living alone has an entirely different freedom of its own.
Again, thank you for your replies.

I live with my parents in the suburbs, it's awful. Trying to move with a couple wings into the downtown area in a few months. For now I make do by using a few older wings pads.

Well, I bought a three-room flat where I sublet one room. The money is taxable, but it doesn't seem like the tax-people notice it, so for now I've increased my income by 10,000 USD a year. That's small beans for a real player, but for a young guy just getting started it keeps things afloat.
Anyways, I'm counting on subletting another two years - first order of business is to eliminate high interest debt.
A year from now you'll wish you started today

Currently living with parents. Weighing options of buying a condo right now which would decrease disposable income exponentially. Or move downtown into apartment and have some $$ to play/dominate. For the past couple years I've been saving like crazy. I'm turning 26 early next year and am feeling a primal need to get the heck out of here.

I've been living alone for the past 5 years. I don't see myself doing anything else.
Due to the fact that I've smoothed things over at work and write my own schedule, I wake up whenever I want. Want to wake up early and hit the gym hard at 8 AM? Sweet. Went out to a warehouse party and popped some E and watched the sunrise? Cool I can sleep in. Noone to answer to.
Even if I ever do the whole wife and kids thing, I'm going to have an entire half of the house devoted to my interests. A music room, weight room, project room, and a separate bedroom. There will be strict rules about disturbing me if I'm in that part of the house. That said, I also plan on having a ranch with a farm, horses, carpentry shop, and maybe annex part of the house for a 20-30 seat restaurant. Sounds far fetched but many before me have done exactly this.
When I went to visit my dad over Thanksgiving, we went to his neighbor's house (his neighbor is a 25 minute drive away up in the Sierra Nevadas) to chop down a christmas tree. During christmas he dedicates much of his farmland to growing christmas trees to make some side cash. His property much have been at least 5 acres with 5 different buildings: his main house, a guest house, a country store where they sell their seasonal handmade goods (wreaths, furniture, tools), his project house (with a central cast iron stove to warm it...fired by his own firewood), and a couple structures to house his tractors, trucks, bales, cords of wood. The place was a fucking MAN pad of the highest order. The guy built EVERYTHING. I've never been in so much awe of a single guy's carpentry work. I instantly thought of all the self conscious douchebags I'm surrounded by in the city, not one of them with a masculine bone in his body.
Anyway, thread derailed, but that's my ideal living arrangement.

Live in a 2 BR, 2 BA apartment with a guy I met off Craigslist. It is what it is. Don't have enough money to live solo, but want to. Will try to when my lease is up -- or sooner.
