I think this is a good opportunity to discuss how the warning system works. If you get warned, your warning level increases by 20-60%, along with a posting suspension of a week or less (usually 3 days).

After your posting suspension is complete, your warning level remains for 90 days until it drops back to 0%. But if you get repeated warnings within those 90 days that send you to 100%, you are automatically banned. This system is to allow users many chances to learn about the rules they are breaking and to correct it.

Brian's warning level was high when he decided to return for some race trolling. The next warning sent him over 100%, and he was thus automatically banned. Looking at his history, he was given four warnings, more than most other members. Tuth and I were patient with him but he didn't make any adjustments. The banning had nothing to do with his conservative views, which I welcome as a means of diversity.

It's also a reminder not to take justice in your own hands when a troll is loose. It has happened many times before that a member got warned for breaking rules in response to another member breaking the rules. Just click the Report button and let us take care of it.

Brian will be missed. With that being said, I think the wisest thing to do is simply stay away from race related threads. No good ever comes out of them, and IMO the one where he got banned did more damage to the forum than the IRT ever could have.

If a troll posts on a thread and nobody reads it, does it still make a sound? [Image: troll.gif]

That said, of course I wouldn't say that Brian or anyone in that thread was trolling, but some things definitely got too heated despite repeated attempts to defuse the situation. I really hope we can all get along here, as we should be united by our love for the game.

Beat me to it (so to speak).

I motion to let Brian come back as a "guest member" for the next election cycle so I can slap him around some more.

Just playing, I actually liked Brian.

----

For the life of me, I don't understand how we get so many race threads on here.

I don't think I have posted on a single one.

Serious question:

Do you guys get in these "race discussions" non-stop in real life?

Or is it just an internet thing?

In my world, I never hear this stuff.

I also liked Brian as a member. He was a beast on the political threads. Definitely the most prominent conservative on the forum. Like Roosh said, it's good to have that kind of diversity. A marketplace of ideas is good for maintaining quality on the forum.

Anyone have the link to the race threads that got him banned? I was never aware of his views concerning race though I'm not surprised. Seems to go hand in hand with hardline conservative thinking.

I also agree that race threads seem to do more harm than good. You can't get people to like each other in real life so why bother online? Live and let live is what I always say.

He got banned for instigating beef with the NN forum, and trying to get Mixx's personal information to "out" him.

Thanks for the find. I think everytime a thread like this is started, the links for reasons of banning should be provided so we can take a look and know what happened.

Now the big question is: Is Brian going to register at NN?

Roosh, you must have read my mind. Just out of curiousity yesterday I was thinking about sending you or Tuthmosis a PM asking about how the warning and banning system works due to a good number of members being banned lately but I decided against it. It's good to know how the system operates here.

I didn't know much about the guy but after reading some of his posts they were definitely over the line for a game forum.

That's the thing, I don't think Brian ever posted anything related to game, travel, or "lifestyle". From what I can tell he just popped up and posted on political threads. Personally, for me this forum is the full package, game, travel, and self improvement/"lifestyle". I think it's lame when guys are just here to debate social and political issues, I'm sure there are other forums that are better suited for that.
