Roosh is right - I rarely have hangovers w/Absolut - I've become a big fan of Absolute Berry Acai - its under $20 a bottle and as good as anything else I've had when I drink it on the rocks.

If you are mixing Skyy isnt bad for cheap stuff. I used to be a fan of Ciroc but its gotten ridiculously expensive over the last few years.

Ukrainian Vodka is the best; as is their drinking practices. Russian is generally fine. Polish in a pinch. They are all I can drink now, after living in Ukraine a few years.

Most of the non-Eastern European vodkas are about marketing to club girls who drown the vodka in a cocktail. Do not mix vodka. It is meant to be drunk straight. Where it was invented, they find it odd as hell that it is used in cocktails.

Nemirof (available in the US)
Khortetsa (some availability in US)
Kosatska Rada

In Ukraine these are about 4-5 usd for 750ml. They are what regular people drink.

Russian Standard, Zeleny Mark and Stoly are fine if that is what you can find.

Rules that work for me. Put it in the freezer. Drink it straight. The bottle goes on the table, like a wine bottle. Use shot glasses. Ok to have a juice chaser. Do not mix with other alcohols in an evening. That way you will avoid hangovers. Really.

I'll never understand Vodka. I drink it... but to pay obscene prices for water... I'll never get it. I can't wait for the Vodka fad to end as Vodka was a bottom feeder spirit for decades, old bartenders hated it because it has no depth - you can't build a house without a solid foundation = my thoughts on Vodka.

But hey if I'm going to drink Vodka I always go for this if I can find it:

Its a Ukraine Vodka imported and made by a Canadian Company shit is a smooth as Goose for half the price.

Being the cheap college fuck I am, I opt for Svedka Citron on Ice most of the time:

Also worth considering is Smirnoff Citrus (or Raspberry for that matter) if you're on a budget.

Got a bottle of Balinoff of France. Actually not bad for 30% cheaper than Goose.

Nope, me too. The best thing is Costco sells a 1.5L for $29.99. Best deal around!

I tend to drink vodka mixed, usually a vodka tonic. I stick with this:

I can go to the local liquor store and get a half gallon (1.75 L) for $26. About $11 per "fifth." Not the cheapest, nor the priciest. But it works for me.

Some of the vodkas posted here are disgusting, including UV, Svedka, and Pinnacle.

If you have to go cheap, Blue Ice Potato is ok, and maybe Frost from Albertsons. Best value is the Costco-branded Grey Goose.

I like to drink russian standard imperial,
I drink it straight, with beer on the side. Best just vodka and dried cured meats.

Nemiroff Lex is the best Vodka.
Only place in NYC I've found that has it is Sly Fox on 2nd Ave Little Ukraine.

Also their other versions are superb.

Absolute had a great sale 4th of July weekend. I picked up a handle for $19.99.

Most of the people I hangout with drink Smirnoff, Sky, or Svedka vodka.

I'm not really a vodka shhhnob. Maybe when I get a little bit older I will be.

For pure vodka I go with either Absolut or Grasovka.
For mixes I go with the cheapest one I can find as the taste is lost on the fizzy drink anyway.

Personally I prefer gin tonic and single malt whisky a lot more though.

(And for the people mentioning Ketel One in this thread, pssst, it's not vodka at all, it's a jenever (gin) [Image: wink.gif])
