Would be cool to see you video your favorite day game spots in the cities you visit. Not approaches, but your favorite spots and a breakdown of them.

My Youtube videos have been bringing in a modest amount of advertising money so I sprung for a new video camera, the Panasonic HC-V700 (under $400 at Amazon).
The last couple of my videos were shot with it, so that's why you can view it in 1080p. There's two issues I'm working on:
1. Lighting. My current room is too dark to let the camera shine, but side-by-side comparisons of my old videos with the new one still show a noticeable improvement in quality. It's less fuzzy and the sound is better.
2. File compression. I convert the raw file (MTS) to AVI and then edit the clip and spit out the final product. I wonder if there is a better way to preserve the quality without having gigantic half gig files for only a few minutes clip. Otherwise there is a sizable loss in quality from raw to what I upload to youtube.
The camera itself is small and light with an easy-to-use touch screen. I especially like how the LCD screen can swivel all the way out so I know whether I'm centered in the shot or not. Maybe this will encourage me to shoot more videos of cities I go to. I'm open to suggestions...
Dear Roosh,
Do you have Mac or PC? Which software are you using to edit your videos?
I will assume you have a PC, since you are converting to AVI. You can convert to MOV in those Codecs:
* Apple ProRes 422 (Download the codec package)
* Quicktime Animation
Those 02 codecs are lighter than AVI Uncompressed and they will bring a nice quality for internet still. If you need further info IM me.

Use QuickTime Pro for quick and easy conversion to/from any format.
There's a version for Mac and PC.

If your channel gets a certain amount of views, Youtube asks if you want to monetize certain videos. Ads start showing up and the proceeds go into your AdWords account to be paid monthly.

Get some cheap photography lights 150 watt and up to 1000 watts. Learn 3 point lighting. Lighting is key to upping the quality of your videos. Sound is too, but start off with lighting first, since video is more visual. For sound you may want to get a pop shield (p's are hard to say without getting static) and microphone to hook into the camcorder.

I don't mind the amateur look of the videos. Sure lighting could be a little better, but don't do too much or it'll look like you're about to broadcast the nightly news.

Is this the model with the rotating eyeball lens?
You can set the thing down and the eyeball will follow you around. Very cool.
If you're going to try, go all the way. There is no other feeling like that. You will be alone with the gods, and the nights will flame with fire. You will ride life straight to perfect laughter. It's the only good fight there is.

This is the one I have, the Canon FS100. I scooped this up in 2008 for around $250. I haven't used it much, or really shot anything and tried to edit it, but the video is definitely crisp. It takes an SDHC card. I really need to experiment and play with it more.

You could get similar quality with a normal point and shoot. It would be smaller and cheaper. You can get even higher quality with a mirrorless camera. They're getting really cheap right now, for example panasonic is selling a micro 4/3rds camera (the GF3) for $287. The even better Sony NEX cameras are selling for around $400 now.
You can compress the videos into a lower bitrate mp4 file so it wont be too huge, still high quality and it will work on everything. Some camcorders and cameras record directly to mp4 files and have the same quality. Much easier to work with than MTS files, just look for a camera WITHOUT an AVCHD symbol infront of it. It's pretty likely it will record compressed MP4 files directly for you. You'll still have to double check yourself before you buy it.
Doing that is far cheaper and more compact than bringing lighting with you.

Roosh,
I have found the following open source software's very effective for conversion and overall size reduction,
1)FormatFactory
2)Handbrake
Both of these are widely used and there are lot of resources on the net on how to use.(google/youtube)
