Well it should go without saying that we aren't talking about landwhales here. However if you made me choose between your first girl (which is a bit over the top even for me, but I think that's mainly because she's too tall) there and, say, something like this -

http://i.imgur.com/T5YaFrf.jpg (NSFW? Not sure if needed but just to be safe)

Then at the very least I would have to think about it. But I'll admit that my preferences put me in the minority on RVF (but fortunately, not in Northeast Asia)

Just got back from KL a couple of days ago, was there during the NYE period and there were tons of people out partying. I was at Zouk and managed to get my Malaysian flag. The Ringgit is shit low now and for most, its a good time to visit. Might be paying a couple more trips to Malaysia again in the coming months so hope to see this thread revived.

One thing to note about Malaysia is that if you're Asian-American or basically an Asian who speaks English well, KL is the place for you. You get access to both the private college going English educated girls and also the not so wealthy girls who don't really speak much English cause they went to government schools. Both would be equally down for dating foreigners as long as you got good sense of dressing and a fun personality. The English educated ones might be expecting some posh restaurants for dates but hell have you checked the ringgit? You can bring her to most restaurants for USD100 and can even expect to get back some twenties.

I focus mainly on gaming for Asian dudes so hit me up for questions on Japan/China/Taiwan/Malaysia/Singapore or if you're coming to Singapore and want to hang out and chase some skirts.

At GlobalMan's suggestion, I'm exploring Kuala Lumpur as a possible destination to spend some time in the future.

I have a few questions that I would appreciate answers for.

(1) Do the Malaysian Chinese speak Mandarin generally? On what level? I'm functional in Chinese and it would be fun to be able to use it as a DHV as I do in Hong Kong. It's a nice little bonus to have, even if both you and the other person are fluent in English.

(2) For those who live there or have spent extended time in Malaysia, how hard it is to deal with the bad customer service and inefficiency that Phoenix wrote about on page 1?

Quote: (03-24-2015 10:47 AM)Phoenix Wrote:

There seems to be a pervasive 'general delinquency' throughout every aspect of the city. Everything and everyone seems to be irritatingly slow and inefficient. The traffic is basically fucked up at all hours. The trains don't cover much of the outer areas and I didn't find them that convenient, so I just stuck to Uber (which worked fairly well). I also heard that the trains there tend to break down often, which given the "can't be fucked" vibe of the city didn't surprise me at all.

Customer service in KL is something that has to be seen to be believed. Not only do they not try to help the customer, they actually have a 'fuck off' attitude towards the customer (especially the Indians, less so the Chinese). I've never felt personal anger towards a shop assistant for the way he or she was doing there job before I came to KL, and there I felt it often. I even had one guy basically say "yes I'm perfectly able to accommodate your request, but I am not going to under any circumstance". I felt slight concern that I was going to be unable to resist hitting him, and had to walk out immediately. Another guy stood deliberately ignoring me, behind the counter of a convenience store, and it took me getting right in his face for him to resume doing his job. Never have I witnessed such active cunt-like behaviour from paid customer service staff in my life.

Does this get to you after a while or have you just adapted and learned to accept it?

(3) What are the transportation options other than cars? Can you legally drive a low cost vehicle, such as a scooter or motorbike? Phoenix also claimed that the trains don't cover the outer areas well. How serious of an issue is this? How late does metro service run? At what hour are you basically forced to take a taxi or drive yourself?

(4) How unpleasant is the humidity?

In Malaysia, most Chinese can speak Mandarin, but usually don't.

Most speak 福建話, 潮州話, or sometimes 標準粵語. You don't often hear the obscure 粵 dialects.

Malays can speak English at a very high level.

Can't comment on 2-3, but the humidity is rough.

cute Malays

They exist?

Hottest malay girl I know is a 6 at best and does modelling.

In my mind ugliest girls in SE Asia.

Bumping this thread because

(a) I'm still hoping for some more answers to my questions above and

(b) I'm planning to visit KL from January 10 to February 4. Would love to meet anyone in the area at that time.

Suits

(1) definitely a DHV on your part. The accent however will be a little difficult for you to decipher in the beginning as we Malaysians tend to speak a mixture of languages in the same sentence.

(2) customer service wise. It depends which department you go to. In general, telecom companies require a lot more patience than other commercial retailers.

(3) uber is your friend. Best not to ride a scooter in KL mate.

(4) humidity..... I've been back from the UK for 8 years now and I still complain KL is hot as balls. Almost as bad as BKK.

Feel free to PM. Would love to meet up during the Chinese New Year season.

To answer your questions:

1) Mandarin is spoken, but for Chinese folks it's usually Cantonese here. The ones I've spoken to are more comfortable in Cantonese, but it is always helpful to speak Mandarin. English is widely spoken, but this is hedged with my following point:

2) The key is really to ask the right question. People don't think ahead to what the intention behind your question is, they have to explicitly be told. So you find yourself repeating things a lot, and walking people through a set of instructions. Whether it's because of the variety of languages, so people just don't process as well as in a mono-lingual society, or because they don't give a shit. Either way, it's just an aspect of being there.

3) Public transport is non-existent -- either you drive, or take Ubers/GrabCab. I wouldn't recommend a motorbike just for safety reasons. Within the city center there is a very limited LRT service, but cabs or driving is the way to go.

One hack might be to take Ubers when you first get there, and then depending if you like any of them, offer them a fixed rate for being your driver for a while. You can definitely rent your own car, but be prepared for traffic. Getting around takes a long time, at most times of day (even outside of rush hours) and if you are traveling outside the city, be prepared to budget extra travel time. Not as bad as Manila or Jakarta, but worse than HK.

4) It's as humid as any other city in the region, but the period you're there should be slightly cooler.

I'm surprised to hear this I haven't been to KL in 4 years but I can't imagine culture changing that fast.

Malaysians are very prickly about not repeating themselves it's considered rude and inattentive to ask about something twice. Therefore I'm wondering if you're subtly being insulted/tested.

Is there anyone on the board that is in KL right now? I will be visiting after Ramadan, date not set, and want to stay for 2 weeks. I'd like to meet RVF members when I'm there, a drink on me, and before I arrive I'm hoping to ask questions as they come along.

Starting with this. Can I legally bring a bottle of two of liquor through the airport?

I'm in KL now and here are some of my thoughts about this place (mostly comparing to bangkok):

PROS:
1. Great variety of delicious food - Chinese, Indian, Malaysian, Japanese, Western.. endless variety of great food to choose from and the juice bars are awesome

2. English is spoken everywhere - no problem communicating with any of the locals and so friendly and social

3. Cheap - some things (food, clothing) are cheaper or close to Bangkok prices, some not (alcohol, dentist)

CONS:
1. Dirty toilets - every bathroom stall is soaking wet with water or piss, gross hole in the ground bidets everywhere ugh

2. Customer service - most (not all) of the Indians, Muslims or Malays working are lazy, don't smile or care at all, Indians have sleezy car salesman-like attitude towards customers

3. Girls - sorry but i only see 6s maybe a 7 and that's it, most don't wear makeup or know how to apply onto their faces

Muslim girls - headscarves everywhere you go, total boner killer

Chinese/Malay girls - cute, nice legs in short shorts but with honger glasses, 6 at most

Indian girls - always in mixed indian groups or family

Tourist girls - i mostly see couples travelling around KL, very few come alone, stay at a hostel and befriend some of them [Image: wink.gif]

So I wanted to give an mini update to Kuala Lumpur.

I was there for about 7 days in Late March 2017.

Logistics/Transportation
You can get to Bukit Bingtang from the airport via rail, bus, or cab. Bus is the least expensive route but takes the longest. I ended up just paying for a cab to get to Bukit. Uber is your friend here as well.

For the first three nights I stayed in a hostel. I was just coming off a disastrous time (in terms of pickup) Penang, so I was a little bit weary of going out alone. The two hostels I stayed in Malaysia did not allow Malaysian girls but if you had a non Malaysian girl you could have her over until 9pm. Hostel I stayed in was close to Pavillion and a couple of other malls nearby. My time was mostly spent doing the tourist thing and hanging out with other hostel folk.

Next, I moved to Sheraton Imperial which is a bit further away from Bukit area. High end hotels in KL were the cheapest I've encountered in SEAsia (outside of Vietnam) so that was a plus. I ended up paying $90 for a club suite with a nice view. Another good thing is that this hotel allows Malaysian girls as guests.

Nightlife
If you want to save on drinks you can go with beer or get some of the local stuff. I believe I was paying RM20 for a small bottle of local gin or whiskey at the store so not bad. Also, buying buckets in bars is a good way to go. Plenty of bars will also have specials as well.

On the street Changkat you will find plenty of bars catering to tourist and unfortunately plenty of hookers. My least favorite area to party so far on my trip. The area was 80% foreigner dudes and the rest hookers. Bars here were either very crowded or without a single patron.

SkyBar-People come here for the views and thats about it. Beers start at 30RM with a whole lotta hookers there too.

View Rooftop G Bar- I actually enjoyed this rooftop bar the most. Heavy on tables and groups so you might feel out of place going alone.

Martinis of 57-More of a resto then an actual bar therefore I liked this spot the least.

Zouk Nightclub-This club is a lot of fun as well. The only time I went with was another guy when we already had girls in tow. Ordered a bottle and had a good time. Tables are on the outside surrounding the main dance floor. Doesn't seem like this place would be difficult to pick up as well.

Along the road that is Zouk is on you will find a plethora of bars and other small dance bars as well. From what I saw, this area has a lot more younger people, more chinese and chinese malay, and younger foreigners.

Red Room- My favorite club in the area. Girls here were the easiest to open of all bars. This is where I met my only SNL for the trip.

Places to avoid:
I made the mistake of letting the cab driver take us to Beach Club. Nothing but vietnamese hookers. The Thai Club just down the street is nothing but thai hookers. Sky Bar and many of the girls in Changkit are also hookers as well.

Girls:
Met two girls off tinder. One Malay and another Malay Chinese. I ended up bedding the Malay girl on our third date. Malay Chinese girl ended up flaking on me after asking to come to my hotel room.

Met a Malay-Chinese girl at Red Room and together with another dude and his girl we spent the night partying away. Ended up sealing the deal later that night and used her as my main tour guide.

The only other potential girl I had was another Malay I met at the mall. We texted quite a bit and actually made plans to see each other late at night. Unfortunately, she wasn't about to put out for a guy who was going to leave in a few days.

In Summary
Malls here are ripe for some day gaming and on-line game can bear some ripe fruit. I found bars to be sausage fest and clubs the best places to find girls at night. If you dress nice and aren't afraid to approach then you'll find yourself getting lucky more times than not.

Thinking of heading back to KL again next month after the Chinese New Year. I'm contemplating if its worth a 3 day visit. If I go, I'll definitely be pipelining for my Msia girls but most of my day game would be targeted towards tourists.

Still, I don't want to visit when all the Chinese girls are back home for CNY, when would be a good date to visit for the resident KL RVFers. Much appreciated!

3 days is good. The place will be quiet for CNY but I theorise girls that are around over that period will be more receptive as they will be alone.

CNY this year is on 16th Feb, I might push my trip back to the 20 plus of Feb in order for the girls to come back into the city depending on circumstances. Will be pipelining alot in order to not have a wasted trip.

Mostly Tinder for me. Alternatively, a slower method(but higher quality) is to google the hipster cafes there are in trend now in KL and use the geotag on Instagram, lots of girls would post photos of them there. DM the hot ones and some may reply. Its abit more time consuming but you get to screen for the real hotties and those dtf based on their photos.
