Furthermore, if i would cut out wheats in the form of brown bread and breakfast porridge, what should I replace it with? I can't live on protein alone of course.

A typical dietary day since I cut down on starches:
Breakfast: sausages, cheese, milk, coffee (without sugar), apple
Lunch: a sandwhich. My only source of starch is the 2 slices of bread. In the sandwich are tomatoes, lettuce, ham. cup of coffee (no sugar)
Dinner: Milk, peanuts, lettuce, tomatoes, generous portion of meat, avocados, fruits

You have to be creative but the key is to eat plenty of fruit and veggies, I eat a lot of milk and meat to keep up with my weightlifting.

This is a fairly expensive way to eat though, the nice thing about starches is how cheap they are.

Do both. Workout, do your cardio And, also eat as clean as possible.

You want abs? I recommend fish and a salad for dinner. No carbs after sunset.

I had to quit gluen in Dec. (celiac's).

I didn't achieve the radical weight loss so many other people who went gluten free went through. It's still "calories in, calories out."

I'd eat an entire large pizza after a heavy squat day and still stay relatively lean. (Because I do IF, that'd be my only meal of the day.)

Lots of Mexican food, nachos, etc.

The biggest thing I noticed is lower levels of inflammation. Since quitting wheat, my joints started feeling great. No achy shoulders and elbows.

But going gluten free didn't do anything magical or special for my body, and did nothing for fat loss.

YMMV.

what are you talking about.

carbs -> insulin -> fat storage.

There's a reason that keto and low-carb diets work, because there are no fucking carbs. No other diets work as consistently well for nearly all people.

Do you wanna get shredded? Cut out the carbs first, then worry about balancing cals in and cals out.

Nothing magical mike? Joints feeling great is one hell of an improvement. Especially as you get older. There is also a theory that inflammation is what causes heart disease. If you do have celiac, gluten will also tear up you guts too. Years of that will lead to IBD and IBS.

I recommend an elimination diet to see what you're sensitive to.
Basically, cut out everything except fruit, vegetables, nuts and meat/fish for a month. (There are variations on this).
Then add things in gradually - dairy, wheat etc.
You will be surprised at what you react to and what you can thrive without. And you'll have empirical data on your own body.
In my case, I confirmed that I didn't do well on dairy and that wheat makes me sluggish, but smaller quantities of rice is fine.

Dr Johnson rumbles with the RawGod. And lives to regret it.

You're right. There is no 'one size fits all' when it comes to diet. You have to figure out for yourself what foods your body is designed for.

For another point of view, read “The Starch Solution: Eat the Foods You Love, Regain Your Health, and Lose the Weight for Good!” . These pop nutritionists are driving everyone into mass confusion with their contradictory advice. I eat a balanced meal. Variety is healthy.

“The story is the same the world over. Whether rice in Asia, potatoes in South America, corn in Central America, wheat in Europe, or beans, millet, sweet potatoes, and barley around the globe, starch has been at the center of food and nutrition throughout human history.”

“The remains of 60 Roman gladiators who fought and died more than 1,800 years ago in Ephesus, in western Turkey, were recently found in a 200-square-foot plot along the road that led from the city center to the Temple of Artemis. Analysis of their bones for calcium, strontium, and zinc showed that the world’s fiercest fighters followed an essentially vegan diet. In contemporary accounts, the gladiators are sometimes referred to as hordearii, or barley men, since barley provided the bulk of the nutrients that gave their remarkably strong muscles and bones the strength and endurance to compete in the ultimate sport of life and death.”

Remember that in our hemisphere, they spray all sorts of chemicals on the foods so it's not the same as 1,800 years ago.

When I was in Africa, for the first time in umpteen years, I ate a banana that was totally natural. I was confused at first because it seemed so small but then I realised that is the size of fruits when you don't add any gene boosters or preservatives.

It also tasted delicious and didn't have that horrible chalky after taste that the ones I buy here do.

If you haven't tasted natural food products you won't know the significance. A Viet woman from where I used to work grew some fresh mint in her backyard and brought it in and when I tell you, I've never smelt anything so deliciously fragrant. I buy mint leaves all the time from the supermarket and trust me, they never come up to that homegrown.

My friend from India said that his mum throws up every time she visits Canada and eats chicken because it tastes so horribly different.

Point made is, if the foods were being grown naturally, the epidemic of dodging wheat, yeast and all that shyt would be unnecessary.

Bear in mind that those people did not have nearly as much access to variety as we do.

For most of Eurasian history, people did not have any access to potatoes, had a measly variety of fruits and vegetables to eat, and crucially the vast majority of people did not have access to meat. Furthermore, problems with transportation and the lack of refrigeration reduced the availability of fresh fruits and veg all year round.

They ate starches because there was nothing else to eat.

And starch as a main source of food only started to become the norm from about 10 000 years ago with the rise of agriculture - and the archaeological evidence points to starch fed people being significantly unhealthier than hunter-gatherers who in comparison did not grow starch crops. Height for example began to diminish as populations switched to starch based diets.

The reason gladiators were fed barely was because barely was cheap, and why waste good food on dead men?

you gain fat and lose fat at different times throughout the day.Overall macronutrient intake is what dictates whether you gain actual fat tissue in the long run.

carbs > insulin > fat storage ey? proteins are very insulinogenic, even whey. carbs are the highest on the scale. But that doesnt make you fat. do you still spike your insulin post workout with whey and waximaize? lol

How on earth did you get down to 4%? I've heard that is impossible. And you say natural yet you are an endomorph? What was your fat percentage before?

Most of these super ripped guys you see clock in at 6%, at 4% did you pass out after you did your abs pose?

Wheat was never the dominant grain in America until about the mid 1900's. Millet was America's staple grain for a very long time.

Prior to that is was High-grade strains of Corn.

Gluten and other low-brade carbs sources make you fat.

Carbs such as Rice, Potatoes IMO are higher up the totem pole. Many cultural diets have these as staples and are fine.

Potatoes get a bad rap because Americans/Westerners boil or fry the crap out of them, don't eat the skins, and generally add fats to it when consumed. Potatoes are full of Potassium, Vitamin C, B-Vitamins, Phosphorus, and Magnesium. Though they are a quick digesting carbs most culture eat their potatoes with a good helping of greens - my guess to slow down the digestion of the Potato starch. My culture does this, we also pair Sweet Corn with Beans - doing the opposite - to help aid in breaking down the corn.

We don't eat enough Root vegetables, they are full of minerals and trace elements our body need, Of course they will be energy dense as this is what helps feed the plant. Celery roots, Taro, Beets, Potatoes, Yams, Parsnips, Carrots - are all healthy and needed parts of a diet.

A Carrot is full of Sugar most would not claim for it to be unhealthy. If you deep fry it in fat, or boil it to high hell.. of course it would be though.

Eat your potatoes... they are good for you. (If prepared properly).

The Anti-Gluten thing is becoming more mainstream but it still a small segment of the population, mostly nouveau riche/white yuppies whom are big into it as they mostly are the ones whom suffer from Gluten ailments.

In short most Classic-cultures know what the hell they are doing with food. Generations of tweaking diets to geographical and physical traits. The modern diet for all its science and technology is complete trash. We have placed value in the process and abundance of food we eat versus the quality. Classic cultures put more emphasis in the quality of energy they were getting as they had to output more energy to gain calories - It was a matter of efficiency - A human could not process by hand the amount of empty calories we eat today.

This is why I always say if you want to know how to best eat and be healthy look to how your classic anestors ate - what foods did they consume from that region of the world and incorporate those staples into your diet. Your genetics are taylor-made to run on that fuel versus the Western Diet we are used to. Go back to your roots while borrowing the best from around the world.

This is why I can eat this (On right, Fufu):

Which is literally nothing but a dense pound + mound of 100% Carbohydrates, made from 100% Cassava flour which would probaly put most people in a Glysemic Coma and be perfectly fine and have energy all day with no crash.

......

Saturated fats. Yes they are good for you if they are from clean sources. The Saturated fat argument was made by Petro-Chemicalists whom wanted to pawn off plastic crud AKA Margarine as a healthier alternatives to natural Butter.

Many cultures use Palm and Coconut exclusively as their fat sources and have no issues with Heart ailements.

I've had trouble getting rid of my small gut as well. It's like I can lose weight down to a certain point, but that last couple of pounds just don't want to go anywhere. It's probably time to switch from beer to spirits.

Also, that no carb shit works because it completely nukes your resistance to insulin. The body's fat burning mechanism doesn't work in Cushing's disease candidates.

The alcohol gut can be tough to get rid of. Switching from beer to liquor will help a bit. Also, eliminate all processed sugars and all necessary, low quality carbs. Limit your night time eating, only clean meat and vegetables at night.

After a night of drinking, wake up and do some cardio, wake up and go for a run or a swim.
