Hunting & Fishing Lifestyle

As deer season rapidly approaches in Ohio I wanted to know if we had other hunters or outdoorsmen on the forum. I am an avid whitetail bowhunter and love to be outdoors. I like being on the water and doing some fishing in the summers too. Anybody with me? Pics of some monster bucks?

In relation to the forum, have you been able to use this to your advantage with women? There are naturally going to be some individuals that are disgusted with the idea of killing animals but I think women, both conciously and subconciously, find it exciting and sexy. When a woman has an impression of you as a business man and only sees you in your formal clothes and then you pull up in your pick-up or she sees some camo in your wardrobe it adds intrigue. Or when she comes to your house and sees your prize mounted on the wall....

Let's keep this conversation within it boundaries and not let it develop into the ethics or your opinion on hunting....those conversations can get out of hand quickly.

Hunting with a crossbow or using traps and snares is cool. Hunting with a shotgun or rifle is weak. I used to hunt and fish a lot as a kid but don't really have time now between golf and the gym.

I grew up in Alabama and have never hunted a day in my life. Target shooting is fun though.

Grew up hunting and fishing. Lost my taste for the former after learning to hunt humans. Plus back in my broke ass college days I had hunt and fish almost out of necessity. It became work over sport.

I'm just never in a place it seems to fish anymore. Would like to try it here in the DR, but still haven't gotten around to it yet.

I remember Kona mentioned impressing girls with carving up fish in front of them. There's something primal about it. That's the ultimate show of providership.

Here's a video of a true player bear hunting. Enjoy.

If any ensuing cataclysm were to occur and seriously disrupt the land-based food supply, I would be able to survive solely by catching fish. Although no contest to live bait, artificial lures can truly work wonders given the patience and skill. My buddy's boat was repaired a week ago. It's time to get back on the water. October is arguably the best month for fishing down here.

No, I am on the Gulf Coast in another state. That video depicts how lures can catch monster saltwater/brackish water game fish not having the need to use live bait.

Those stupid trout eat anything. I could catch 30 of them in an hour using gulp bait and a small jighead. They do make the best shark bait though the bigger ones get worms and they don't keep to long unless you keep them in a live well or on heavy ice. The meat gets soft.

Here we use cast nets and use ladyfish(cut) or whitebait. If you don't know how to throw one learn asap. Whitebait is the candy of the sea. Wasting time with lures sucks. Those banana jigs work great for Pompano though with a small bit of shrimp on them.

I love to fish. I grew up in the big city but I really respect the outdoors. My grandparents were farmers. My ancestors are the indians native to California.

I think this lifestyle is in my blood. I hunt young p*ssy like a great white shark!

I love fishing and do it every day. Professionally and personally.

Like Ali-B said, when I lay a big ass ahi out and sashimi it, girls love that. They suck my dick even if it smells like tuna intestines. It's the way to go.

Hunting really never did anything for me. I get wild chickens in the yard that I shoot all the time, but they taste like shit.

I went deer hunting a bunch of times and it just kind of bored me. Sometimes you sit out in the cold for hours and you don't even see a damn deer.

I do like wild pig hunting. We'll get a couple of our dogs and run them down in the hills and shoot them with a shotgun, or just cut their throats.

Aloha!

The specks we have here, generally don't bite dead market bait (dead shrimp). I have used gulp shrimp variety on the top which was effective but they can be really picky. The best bait is supposed to be sparkle beetles with a 1/4 oz jighead for those type of trout. I'm going to have to try cut ladyfish. I just throw them back since they don't look to have one ounce of flesh on them. They are fun to catch though.

I know you are in the Florida area. That can certainly mean you all have clear blue see through water where you can see the trout schooling and just toss the net at will. You can damn near see the bottom of the body of water in that picture you posted. The water is not as clear here; we have to use rods and reels.

Used to bass fish three or four times a week spring and summer, deer and pheasant in the winter. I love it.

Unfortunately my buddy who I used to do all this moved away, then I got a real job, and now I'd rather spend my weekends hunting puss. Haven't fished all summer, which is unfortunate.

I never saw spending the money on sport fishing. I'm sure it's a rush to pull in a marlin, but we always ate what we caught, and fished for what we ate. Same as big game hunting. Never saw the need in flying all the way to Africa to shoot something that couldn't be cut into steaks and stacked in the deep freezer.

The net is for catching bait. Trout are mostly in the grass flats where they hide out and ambush that's why you can catch them jigging the water's a little dark because of the grass bottom. Next time you catch an undersized one put it on a hook with a steel leader and float it with a bobber and some small weights where your line and leader meet and let it drift in at least 3 ft of water and try to keep the trout about 16 inches from the surface. Wait then tell me what happens especially at dusk.

Why do you care about trout anyway? That's one bump up from the trash slam. Don't you guys have reds and snook?

I fish the inland tributaries and inner bays. I stay away from freshwater fishing and I have yet to go offshore in the Gulf of Mexico.

Lol @ you saying trout is one bump up from the trash slam. Trout, especially speckled trout, is a coveted fish here, presumably since it takes "skill" to fill a box (25 fish per person 12" and plus). It is the premier game here, more so than redfish, flounder, black drum, sheephead, bull croaker, etc. The trash fish here are hardhead catfish, oysterfish, sting rays, croaker, eels, ladyfish, and of course all undersized species. No snook here.

I looked up whitebait and we don't have those live or dead for that matter. If I were to use smaller fish, small live croakers are hit or miss but they always yield either a mule trout (18"+) or a bull red (28"+). Otherwise, cockahoe minnows are available, I prefer live shrimp though.

I've seen videos on Youtube of guys doing this and they're pretty crazy. I'm sure it is a hell of an adrenaline rush to get in there and wrestle with a wild pig...they can be pretty nasty. Slicing ones throat with a 12 inch bowie knife definitely qualifies as manly and prob is a nice shot of testosterone.

I did a lot of duck hunting and deer hunting as a teenager. Unfortunately, I got out of it after college. I went flyfishing for the first time this summer, pretty cool.

You guys been to any good places outside of the U.S. for hunting or fishing? I've always heard the bird hunting was fantastic in Argentina.
