What it's like to date a real model

One problem with me and models. I am only 5' 8". Most models are taller than me plus when you add a 4" heel they are really taller. And as much as I would like to lie to myself and say I'm confident and it don't mean shit. In reality it does bother me. I am still not comfortable with a girl that is a lot taller than me. I have actually turned down a few really tall models because of this. Yep, I chickened out.

Man, I actually love tall skinny girls who are taller than me. Firstly, walking around with them is like you showing off a trophy kill. Secondly, if a girl is > 5' 11" she's used to dating guys shorter than her, and it won't make a fucking difference. Third, I love long slender legs [Image: smile.gif]

A good disqualifer to drop is, "you're actually a little short for my tastes, I like the statuesque ones the best."

Actually, in the modelling world, "the wall" is much younger than thirty. After 25, they are finished.

Correct. I'm close to a very successful model (you used to see her on billboards, etc.). She's 27 years old now. She's still getting work, but much less than she used to. Her agency tells potential clients that she's 24, otherwise she would get even less work than she does now.

My main squeeze is a former model, she did however get out at a fairly early age due to the demeaning ways that bookers often treats models. She also early on took a stance to never go to NYC to model (which is the most competitive market) because she felt everyone going there came back changed and/or with chemical addictions.

I guess this is a sign of sanity. Very few girls in their late teens and early twenties can handle the pressures of the modelling business without losing a bit of themselves. They are tools and treated as such.

It was definitely a "took my game to the next level" experience. I have never met a chick more determined to push my patience and more determined to steal hand. When we first started she'd always try and reschedule, push back times, and even bring her fucking dog over. I never caved or allowed her to take control, but at times it was almost fatiguing.

The sex was crazy, which I always suspected was a function of everyone kissing her ass all the time. She wanted it real dirty all the time- choking, hard slapping, tied up, I mean shit, she even wanted me to piss on her (I never did). In her words, she wanted "to be degraded".

I would have ate a ton of asparagus and urinated all over her for all those cancellations...

So last night I was at a bar and a very attractive girl, albeit not a model, orders a drink from the bartender right next to me. He brings her the drink, she asks how much. He looks at her, and waives off her paying. She says thank you and leaves. Let's just say that's never happened to me. A different reality folks.

Yeah many of them go off the rails, become party girls (promoters pay them to show up at the club, take them out to dinner, they meet sugar daddies, etc.), develop eating disorders, get into bad relationships.

Think about what it must be like to live with 7 other girls in a model apartment. You become completely divorced from reality and you have 7 immature girls constantly amplifying each other's bullshit.

That's why girls who last for a while are usually well-grounded; if they weren't they would burn out.

It's a cut throat industry. Models are status climbing gold diggers; they are cut throat. The guys in here that survive are cut throat as well, they don't take shit from any model regardless of looks. The guys in the industry have no qualms making models have sex to climb up.

I used to think I was ruthless till I heard stories from models I worked with about photographers they've worked with in the past. They made me look like an angel lol.

Based on the models I met when I was studying in Europe, I actually like the attitude of "if you're not rich or if you're not good looking, I'm not even gonna talk to you." It's real and it's straight-up. No games. You're either in or you're out.

I think their intelligence is more career-minded and I like that about them too. The models I knew always had a next goal they wanted to accomplish (maybe not a concrete goal, but some desire to get to point B). By contrast, the hot girls where I'm at now are content being a fucking waitress or bartender for the rest of their life. A little ambition - even if it's completely materialistic and superificial - is very cool to me.

Madonna spoke unashamedly about this in an interview many years ago. She would only sleep with dudes that could further her career. She always had that drive and ambition. It may not always win you friends, but it may get you where you want to go. If all you've got are your looks for the most part, you need to parlay that into something more lasting. For models, networking and associating yourself with people that have the power to help you achieve your ends is necessary. Spreading them on occasion for a man that is willing to foot the bill seems a small price to pay.

Surviving and advancing in the industry is also dependent on a girl's ability to handle the sleaze factor. There are plenty of perved-out photogs in the business, and frankly, the agency doesn't want to hear whining about what one of them asked you to do, or what he said that made you uncomfortable. Just deal. Everybody knows it goes on, but it's seen as normal. The girls that can either grit their teeth, or simply laugh it off will probably survive. The ones that are shaken deal by drinking and drugging, or they simply quit.

I'd not mention her height or shortness in any kind of conversation with a taller girl. She's not stupid. Chances are that she'll misinterpret any kind of height reference, disqualifier or not, as insecurity of yours.

I dated a girl whose roommate had been a model in Europe and I think dropped out at some point.

My impression was she didn't like it too much.

I clearly remember her describing what her career path to success would have involved," I would have had to fuck so many guys..." she sort of off-handedly explained.

Hugh Hefner is probably the best example, openly hitting on models that try out for his magazine. And maybe rappers hitting on models in their music videos while shooting.

I have probably dated more than my fair share of models, and most tended to be very insecure. And a lot of only interesting in dating someone who can provide for her or further her career. A few are nice and down to earth but definitely the minority. After you have had a models under your belt, they lose their allure. I would rather have a 8-9 with brains and a good person then your average 10 model.

No doubt. Hef flat out GIVES girls careers beyond posing in his magazine. That's why chicks will sign on to be part of his mini harems and live in a glorified sorority set-up at the mansion. He's generous regarding gifts, you travel here and there and party, and you may get a tv show out of the deal, or at least b-movie acting roles. You also get access to tons of celebrity dudes that frequent the mansion for parties and other functions, so you can monkey-branch from Hef to a younger famous dude.

Nope, works great. They laugh. 99.9% of men go, "wow you're tall" & that's it. Give the ol' height DQ and it always get a loft and breaks through to the other side.
