"Is misogyny maladaptive?"

I just read an article about the development of misogyny, and thought RFV readers may have some opinions to share.

"Is misogyny maladaptive?"

A load of feminists horseshit summed up nicely in this paragraph.

Quote:Quote:

Men have gained at women’s expense by controlling them, making them dependent, making them work, ignoring many of their needs, accumulating two or more women as sex or marital partners, coercing them into sex, and even kidnapping them from their villages, in which case they really are over the next hill.

The bold emphasis is mine. Not only do feminists want independence for women, they don't want to work for it either. The next phrase "ignoring many of their needs" is a load of first world nonsense. You only have three needs in this world: food (water), clothing, and shelter. If those needs aren't met, you die. If women's needs weren't met, they died. If they died, then the men don't get to pass on their seed.

Girlwriteswhat gave the best definition of feminism when, in one of her videos, she said "Feminism is the idea that men never put the women and children first."

The reason that some men have stopped putting the women (and in some cases the children) first is because the women have gotten what they asked. Of course, they will come crawling back once the state is no longer there to protect them and they have to worry about the band of men living on top of the hill coming down to get them.

"Is misogyny maladaptive?"

I think the author uses the term "maladaptive" incorrectly. An attitude cannot be maladaptive if it has functioned perpetually for a long time; this runs counter to the very definition of the word. The author is taking a personal opinion about society and wrapping it in academic terms to make it sound more credible.

Also, I dispute the idea that dissimilar gender roles are misogynistic. If a man makes money and a woman takes care of a house, why do people automatically assume that the woman is being subjugated? The man and woman are both working to provide for each other and their household.

The guy has vast academic credentials but he cheapens himself by letting his opinions guide his work. His last sentence explicitly shows his bias when it says, "we still have a long way to go." He seems like a guy who has spent so long in his field that he knows what buttons to push to gain agreement from his target audience even when his argument isn't based on more than opinions and a couple anecdotes.
