What's Holding You Back!?!

“When a resolute young fellow steps up to the great bully, the world, and takes him boldly by the beard, he is often surprised to find it comes off in his hand, and that it was only tied on to scare away the timid adventurers.”

What's Holding You Back!?!

The wisdom on "old" posts on this forum is staggering.

Meanwhile, we are inundated with noobs who can't search and just post non stop complaining.

Here's a shout out to what gems are "hiding" in this forum.

If you are struggling and need advice show you are sincere by finding some of these threads and making an effort instead of making multiple dupes of your own threads of whining and self-pity tinged with arrogance.

What's Holding You Back!?!

Worth bump instead of a random necro, cheers!

I'm on my way to work on the bus so I can't take the OP and posts in fully, but I can contribute.

When I was in my teens and early 20's what held me back the most were feelings of inadequacy. I admired many people for different things; what they represented, the things they accomplished, the lifestyles they led. And I considered such things beyond my reach - a emotionally absent and disciplining mother, and a father who I refuse to call by that title because he never fit that role are somewhat to blame too.

On the cusp of my 22nd birthday I decided that perhaps I should at least try these things, my life has changed much since. However yet things are still holding me back, mostly your average procrastination and indulging in dopaminergenic media - so common in today's environment of easily consumable media and the apparatus to access it.

I've been implementing strategies bit by bit every month to combat these, it's been a gradual process and being single had propagated it - everything seems to come to a halt when I'm dating someone so that also holds me back.
