Give the the series "Luther" a go. I've watched many series before and this show seems gets me to ask myself every episode "who in the world could be so genius to make a plot unfold like that?".
It is on netflix like many other shows

Not watching TV is almost a filter for fun girls.
If they are more interested in "watching life" instead of "living life" you should move on. Even if she's a 9, I'll bet my last dollar there is another 9 out there who is grounded.
The news, TV, facebook, etc are all crap. Use it to make money, sure, but to waste your time? No thanks.
Agree with Kosko just get the jist of the show and thread into a better real life conversation. You know, beyond the pixels.

I don't have cable and my tv stays on PBS for the documentaries and nature shows. I watched some of Mad Men and thought it was lame. TV can suck you in so be careful, It's like the internet.
