Telling stories is an important skill to have when picking up women. Which stories do you tell to get a woman locked in?
What stories do you tell women during a pickup?
The story that seemed to really hook one girl was a long drawn out bedtime story about the history of a mushroom spore. I started with the life of a mushroom spore millions of years ago and took it through to the present day.
She would then often ask me for one my famous "xsplat's boring bedtime stories". Strange thing to bond over, but it worked.
I find it very entertaining to make up spontaneous stories. Not all girls appreciate it, but some get off on seeing that king of spontaneous creative improvisation.
Maybe you had in mind stories of personal histories that show value? Telling a tale can be fun, and bringing them into some of your adventures through the retelling can work. But only for some girls, I've found. Many others really have no interest, because they don't feel involved.

I like telling either recent true, or completely made up stories that get a girl thinking about me naked/sex with me, etc.

I just tell them about my lifestyle, which includes a nice amount of international travel. Throw in a few exotic stories, some funny stories, and a litte danger. Segway that into talk about turning your life into a series of mini adventures. Transition that into talk about freeing yourself from the expectations and standards of others. Talk about all of the missed opportunities she had because she didn't take a chance. Shift into talk about how life is just a series of experiences and the memories they produce, and how when we are older, all we will have are those memories. Shift into talking about making great memories. Close and fuck.
About 90% of my conversations with American girls that I have fucked over the past 5+ years has followed this basic format. It works amazingly well on women (particularly those leading boring 9-5 lives, which is about 95% of them).

I don't make them up. Live an interesting life doing interesting things and you will have interesting stories and become an interesting person. It is amazing how uneventful and monotonous most people's lives are.

You are at a party or some group event where everyone is talking to everyone else. You are having a conversation with one person and just tell some random story about one of your trips to Latin America, South East Asia, or Eastern Europe. Not the standard tourist shit every vacationer tells (e.g. we saw the Eifel Tower and the Louvre), but a story that is more off the beaten path.
Somewhere during your story you realize that EVERYONE else has stopped speaking and they are all listening to you and your tales. When that shit keeps happening to you every time you talk with your friends, it is a sign of how much more interesting your life has become relative to everyone else's.

I usually tell travel related stories which are all true. I don't make up complete stories which i think is very fake but I might exaggerate a few elements in the story. One story I tell is about me meeting a Russian girl in the Far East of Russia where no tourists go (true) and that she used to model a bit. (true) and that she followed me all over Asia. She flew to Thailand and the Phils to see me again on her own costs. (true) With a story like that you don't have to lie. occasionally I partly use a routine in that story ( a love spell story) which works very well.

Usually I won't, but every now and then I like to fuck with people. Sometimes I just make something absolutely ridiculous/absurd up that's completely irrelevant to the conversation entirely, then tell the girl "oh wait, sorry, none of that was true," and just leave them speechless. WHERE AM I???" Me being pretty drunk at the time, I decide to tell her that ' we're walking her to our rape den and to shut the fuck up before the cops hear us '. She promptly smacked my friend in the face and he let her go. I was still holding on so she just kinda fell awkwardly on her face. I cracked up laughing at this and let go. She kicked me on the way down and fucking sprinted off in to the bushes screaming. I don't think I've ever seen anyone run that fast in my life."

Me: "What else was I supposed to do?"
Her: "Tell the truth????"

It's no surprise that men make up stories to tell women. Bullshitting is such a central feature of male conversation, not just to attract women, but to impress other men.
I don't tell stories, I convey the vast strangeness and wonder that is my entire fucking being, but only for an hour. Then I'll cut the date short, withdraw fully, and let her wonder about what I'm doing for the next two weeks.
- How my former assistant fell in love me with and went fatal attraction (shows girls have gone crazy over me)
- How I cried at marley & me (shows I'm emotional, talk about animals, always gets them)
- How campari is made from beetle blood, or used to be anyway (always google on their phone, allows for kino)
- How I've gone to thunder down under, and witnessed the level of horniness girls can display (sexual conversation)
- How my friend married an unattractive, obese woman that mentally abuses him to the point of crying (just abusrdity)

I tend to tell travel stories more than anything else but that's probably just because my most interesting experiences tend to happen when I'm traveling. I have this one story about when I went heli-skiing that's super funny and has a lot of DHV so I consciously try and work that in when I can, but otherwise I mostly just tell stories off the cuff whenever something reminds me of a particular experience I've had. If you can pull this off spontaneously the effect is truly awesome and it can be a backbone of your game. It's definitely worth it to work on becoming a good storyteller.
If the setting is right, I like to tell the story of how a teabagged a creeper at Ultra Music Festival in Miami.
I candy flipped that day (acid and molly) and I was feeling pretty nice. I was on Biscayne Blvd. across the street from the festival. There was a girl doing body painting on the sidewalk and the crew I was hanging with were hanging out with her.
There was this other random kid that was whacked out of his mind on something. Every attractive girl that came into the vicinity, he would get behind them and start hover humping them. Each time he did this he would look at me and make signals asking me if I would or if I wouldn't. After the third time he did this, I shook my head no and made a sign that I wanted him instead. This made him uncomfortable, but he was too fucked up to care.
He worked his way into the circle on the sidewalk and was sitting behind this girl that was getting painted. He started with his usual shit. So I got behind him, pulled my nuts out of the side of my shorts, and teabagged him. He looks up, and gets and eyefull of my nuts. He gets up and bolts. The girl doing the body painting gets up and gives me a big hug. I look to my right and about 15 feet away there are two cops looking at me laughing their asses off.

I guess we could call that reminiscing game. It displays value and brings her into your world and manipulates her emotions with excitement, adventure, tragedy, loss, and humor.
I used to often open with asking the girl to tell me a story, and if she couldn't jog her memory for something interesting I'd mention a year in her life, like when she was 15. Something usually pops up. After her story, and if I'm lucky it was interesting, she'll usually ask me for a story, and I'll ask her to pick an age. I don't play guitar, but I can use words to engage and dazzle her. Like for many of us there is no shortage of material to draw on. I enjoy the challenge of telling the tale, and the creative effort is fullfilling - maybe a musician might have that feeling when they riff.
Story telling is more structured and formal than light banter, and not all girls like to go there, but for those that do it can be entertaining, and I always enjoy drawing the stories out of the girls.
