I know for a fact that I left at least two virgins on the table during high school thanks to a complete lack of experience (read: they were blatantly into me and I didn't know what to do or how to even recognize it).
Part of me feels it happened this way for a reason (if I'd tasted pussy, parties and real popularity in high school, I may never have gotten where I am today).
Another part of me is a little regretful. Both girls were cute, one was considered one of the hottest in the school at that time (she's plumped up a bit now, sadly). It could have been a real different story for me if I'd had the tools then that I do now.

Like you said, you probably wouldn't have your current skills/position had you not experienced failure in h.s., so it was a sacrifice for rewards further down the road.

Any more time commitment to girls in h.s ( and less to academia and extracurriculars) and you may not have made it into ivy league. Any less frustration with girls and you may not have found the gameosphere. The position you are in with both these forms of education gives you potential for a life that shits on any parties and girls you might have gotten in h.s. You probably already know all this, but sounds like you still have some doubts, and I'm telling you as an outsider: don't.
