Best type / brand of fish oil?

I wouldn't buy them in a pot I would always buy them in strips. Sweaty fingers looking for a fish oil pill destroy the capsules on longer term which causes the fish oil come thru. Doesnt happen with strips.

I've been looking for a fish oil supplement with higher EPA/DHA levels (I've read that 2g EPA & 1.5 DHA per day would be optimal), and came across this at some point: http://mikaelsyding.com/the-one-best-col...g-ignored/

Been following this guy on and off for some time, and in this article he gives a pretty good in-depth treatment of Omegas themselves, their influence on the body, and his own oil regimen. He promotes a brand called ArcticMed, which is some kind of blend of olive and fish oils. It looks like it has a bigger dose of EPA/DHA than I've seen elsewhere, but I haven't tried it because shipping to my country is a bit too much. I'm not sure how much the difference between liquid vs. pill form matters, but I just came across a brand on Amazon called "Iron Ore Health Omega 3 Platinum Fish Oil." One dose is 660mg EPA and 400mg DHA, a lot more than any other fish oil ppills I've seen so far. Currently being sold at a low price too; I just ordered a bottle and we'll see how it goes. If you guys are looking for higher-dose oils, this looks like it might be a good option.

Fellas,

be o so careful wasting your money on fish oil. I wasted my money for years thinking I was "doing something good" for my body/self.

A waste and potentially BAD for me.

I'll just leave this here

You have to be super careful of the level of omegas and most fish oil is rancid. Sorry but I trust pbs over some company in walgreens

I'm looking at trying NOW's Neptune Krill Oil.

https://www.nowfoods.com/supplements/nep...l-softgels
https://www.nowfoods.com/now/nowledge/ne...properties

Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) 120 mg
Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) 70 mg
Phospholipids 390 mg
Esterified Astaxanthin 750 mcg

There's some support out there for fish oil helping to normalize blood pressure, which is a long-term concern of mine, but also interested in it for the more well-documented nootropic benefits, especially since I'm dragging badly in the mornings this winter.

Any thoughts on this product or experiences with this use?

Why get krill oil when you can get fish oil with much higher EPA/DHA? If you want the astaxanthin, then supplement independently. If you're concerned about efficacy, order from a reputable vendor, or get a prescription for Lovaza.

If you're concerned about blood pressure, then exercise aerobically 3-5x per week, 1/2 hour per day, cut out red meat whenever possible, eat your veggies, consume plenty of dairy, and reduce stress. CoQ10 should also help. You could drink tons of hibiscus tea, but I noticed no difference when doing so.

I also struggle with blood pressure, and it's solely because of stress (I do everything else above). I went on a beta blocker short term to see what would happen, and it dropped my blood pressure from 140/90 to 110/70. But your heart can't beat as fast, which affected my athletic performance. I dropped it right now hoping to relieve stress, but I may have to go back on it for long-term health considerations.

^ Done, and I'm in a good position with it. I hadn't considered CoQ10, but that's a good one for me to look into, thanks.

Supposedly, 100% krill oil is less likely to be rancid (due to the astaxanthin), and generally of higher quality. I know there was some discussion about it in this and other fish oil threads, and figure it's worth trying out.

I get it, but if you buy from a reputable vendor (or get Lovaza), I don't think you have to worry about it. Krill oil is expensive and doesn't deliver nearly the same amount of DHA/EPA as fish oil.
