Women can now have kids in their 40's, 50's, and beyond

Everything that liberates women actually liberate men twice as much.

Since women will be able to have children later, men will become even more caddish.

The main reason many men settle down is due to guilt of having been with a woman during her "best" years and not wanting to be a jerk for abandoning her -.

With childbirth a possibility at any age, men no longer have to deal with this guilt.

I see more pumps and dumps. Men win ! ......again.

When women have kids into their late forties, everyone is quick to point out that the women will still be alive when their kids graduate high school and college.

What they DON'T consider is that old people don't just drop dead out of the blue and it's usually a long, slow, painful slide downhill. It's these kids who will be dealing with all that and will have to spend their college years and early twenties doing "eldercare." Most people are not prepared to deal with the elderly when they are 20-29. Throughout history, our grandparents, not our parents, have been "the elderly" when we're young.

There was an article about this in Salon (or The Atlantic?) by a woman who was the youngest sibling in her family, and how it fell to her as a teenager to take her mom to doctors, etc. Having kids too late sentences them to a life of servitude and worry. It's a shame the media are so busy doing cheerleading all things IVF to see the toll women's choices take on kids.

The moral: just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.

This is a perfect example of the media ignoring the implications of a 50 year old woman giving birth.

Even more incentive for betas to drop out of the rat race.
