Hilarious and so true. I always laugh when people talk about how friendly people are in other countries not their own. Of course they are friendly, they want your money. The Tuk Tuk drivers here in Bangkok are awesomely friendly and nice....aside from the fact that they are constantly trying to rip you off but you are too naive to know better. The large majority of people never venture off of the tourist track, so they just deal with people are are paid to be nice to them.

WILKES-BARRE, PA–Joan Pavlik, a 49-year-old Wilkes-Barre dental hygienist, is "completely in love with Brazil," despite the fact that she has only seen four square miles of land surrounding the Sol Rio Internacional Resort near Rio de Janeiro.

"Brazil is just the most incredible country," Pavlik told friends Monday over lunch at Olive Garden. "The mountains, the beaches, the rainforest: It's like heaven on Earth."

Always loved the Onion. However, I was distraught to see the Serbian version of it (njuz.net) recently attacked for "harboring sexism". Soon even these bastions of clear thought and satire will not be untouched.

On a serious note, I often ask my international friends if they've seen many other cities in their own countries, and more often than not, the answer is no. Not only have they not ventured outside their own countries, but not even out of their own cities.
