Anyone in Guadalajara this week? I'll be hitting up Canelo's boxing gym in the mornings every day this week if anyone would like to tag along.

Any update on the best dancing clubs? Salsa, Cumbias, Bachata, Reaggaeton is my shit.

"Salsa Dancing Clubs: Here’s a few I visited Copacabana Salón de Baile, Rancho Grande, and El Gran Mexicano"

That was posted in 2012. Would appreciate any info.

Saludos!

Its funny how so few people on the forum go to Guadalajara despite it being a pretty cool place.

Great food, cheap, amazing climate, relatively safe (especially compared to Colombia/Brazil). Not a huge drinker but you can get shots for 15 pesos (<$1), its nuts. Then there are so many areas to visit that are close by, Lago Chapala is only an hour drive.

Then you have decent quality Mexican girls, defiantly better than Mexico City and can compete with other top places. Very open and nice too.

Not only that you have it only a few hours away from the U.S, it was strange to not see more foreigners here.

I dunno, I found the city of GDL to be pretty underwhelming, but I didn't go out clubbing while there. I've been to Mexico more times than I can count (my Mom is from there) and all over the country, and I have to say that GDL might be my least favorite city in the country, not including dumps like Matamoros. GDL is constantly promoted to tourists in Mexico but upon arrive I found it's not set up for tourists at all. The one information center in town had barely any info, the staff were not helpful either. It's like nobody had ever visited them. The centro area is a bit dirty and depressing, most local people spoke and acted very rancherote. Food was nothing special compared to other parts of Mexico either. Zapopan and Tlaquepaque were fine though.

Like you said, the best part of GDL is leaving the place to go to places like Chapala, Tequila, etc. I dunno, maybe I'm missing something or went at an off time, but GDL city to me is not a place I would repeat.

Yeah I enjoyed the places outside of the city the best, the city itself is not extremely touristy nor beautiful. I think you basically just stick to the nice areas because the rest of it is just sprawl so I agree with you there.

I guess for me the sticking points was the climate, girls and the saftey (in the nice areas). That being said when I go back to Mexico I think I will rent a car and do a road trip all over, but I like more natural places anyways.

Hey,

I have the option to stay either 1 month in GDL or Mexico city, which do u guys recommend for quality girls and quality of life?

Thanks

Quality of girls Guadalajara 100%. Quality of life depends on your budget, Guadalajara has much cheaper rents, CDMX has better transport infrastructure and is a more beautiful city but is a lot more polluted. If its only a month Id go with Mex city. You`d need to stay in Guadalajara a while to get the most from it.

It's been a long, long time, but out of every city in Mexico I've been to (well, pretty much all of them) I remember being most impressed by the girls in Guanajuato. Not sure if that's still the same, though.

Hey guys,

I plan to visit Guadalajara from May 01 - June 11. After having read another thread about the city, I'm now unsure if the weather will fit me as another member wrote:

Just got to GDL last night. I haven't done much or gone out of my neighborhood so my update is very preliminary. So far, I don't like this place.

Today, it was HOT AS FUCK. Like upper 90s, and it won't be much cooler for the rest of my stay. Couldn't do much walking around during the main hours. So I just stayed at the hotel and swam in the pool.

So, would Guadalajara be an enjoyable destination weather wise during the above mentioned timeframe or should I better visit DF?

A follow-up question:
Some members here recommend to stay in Zapopan as it's the equivalent of Polanco.
When I look Zapopan up it's a huge area. Where is its center? Would you live somewhere like Chapalita or further to the west?

Guanajuato, Guanajuato (the capital of the state of Guanajuato) is a college town (in season). Gets a fair of amount of domestic tourism as well, plus a big arts festival in the fall (Cervantino).

I just got back from a three night stay in GDL. I'm 40, white, average height, but I do speak reasonably fluent Spanish. Using Tinder and Bumble, I was 2/3 while there and could have gone 3/3 had I not left one date to go out with a much prettier girl where I did ultimately strike out. Here's my mini trip report:

Thursday: decided to use SPG points to stay at a boutique hotel in Colonia Americas. Met up with a cute lawyer on Av. Chapultapec at La Nacional (Grillo next door is also good). She then drove me to Tlapique where we walked around, drank traditional drinks and watched a mariachi band. Took her home and got the golden touchdown. First time I ever induced asthma in a girl from orgasms, which was both mildly troubling and ego-inducing at the same time as she wheezed hasta la madrugada.

Friday: girl from Bumble, also had a good professional job. We went to a cocktail bar on Calle Marsella above the Fitzroy coffee shop. Small and quick to get crowded, but good cocktails and otherwise a solid date place. We then went to Bar Galaxy - an 80s themed club before heading back to my place. Lots of LMR but got the lay. She also got her period at that time, leaving a mess that reminds me why I like to stay in hotels instead of AirBNB.

Saturday: went out with a tinder date who looked considerably more worn than her photos. She was clearly DTF but I wanted to try for better and had thoughtfully scheduled another date with a girl from Bumble. The latter was incredibly attractive, had a real career, but also the conservative personality that others on this thread have mentioned. When went to a pulquieria, a mezcal place called Agaveria (very good), and then back to Bar Galaxy, which turns out to be a gay club. She was great to be with but resistant to SNL. At 3am, I gave up and went to Bar Americas, which is an afterhours club with mucho drogas. I didn't partake as my flight was the next day, but was approached a by a super cute chemist who invited me into her social circle while I was waiting for a drink at the bar. She didn't want to leave her friends but insisted we exchange numbers. The club was a very mixed crowd with a few scary looking people, but generally safe. Went home solo.

I found people in GDL to be very friendly, but thought the city had a fraction of what CDMX has to offer during the day. At night, the major - maybe only - benefit is that as a comparatively smaller city, it's easier to meet up with girls and that it's cheaper. I had little gringo competition and the nightlife was compact and manageable vs CDMX. That said, I don't think I'm going back so quickly as CDMX has so much more to do and see and the quality of girls is reasonably equivalent with a slight edge to GDL.

For those who do go, I found most girls live in Zapopan or near Chapultapec. The ones in Zapopan seemed clustered near Puerta del Sol. I never made it out that way.

Casa Fayette. It's an upscale hotel near Av. Chapultapec but reasonably priced by US standards at USD 100/day. No problem taking girls back to the room, which has been my experience in Mexico City as well.

Given that you wrote your age, how old were the girls? Older than 30 or younger than 30?

Girls were late 20s / early 30s. The younger girls on the online dating apps had much sluttier profiles but didn’t match with me.

Anyone going to be in GDL in January? I'll be there starting on 1/07/19, booked for a week for now but might extend if it's good.
