Well, as if Mechanico needed another supporter but he has one in me.
I met up with him today at his auto shop. He is a man with a strong presence and I don't fuck around attitude. His assertion and quick calculations in all things financial skills and life wisdom is something to be admired and even imitated. He is, if anything, a survivor, and the empire he has built for himself is proof of that.
All the men and women I've met who met him respected him. His word and his push carries a lot of weight in where he stays. He's there even when he is not. His family has lived where he stays for over a hundred years. Many people who inhabit his location have lived there all their lives and have had parents, who have lived there all their lives as well. Friends, associates, everyone, in the same neighborhood, same secluded area, same cove of beauty, for generations. They all share a common culture that has not been tampered by the rest of that which decays the rest of the state of Florida and it fits well with the surrounding atmosphere.
And that atmosphere is gorgeous...
He took me to a well off the beaten path beach. Driving there felt like a dream. The beach itself was simply beautiful, it is the shit that you see in Post cards in Walgreens. The shit that inspires men to marry the woman they are with. The shit that makes a suicidal man put down the loaded shotgun down and decide to give life one more day. I could not believe how beautiful the beach was. To think that very few people know about the area is a testament to its natural beauty
And it will stay that way as far as I'm concerned...
The rest of the town was quite lovely, lots of long streets with different "beach shops" and tourists, A persistent ocean breeze blows through your air all the time, cooling the normally hot summers and mild winters. The place is so cool that I walked into a non-air conditioned house when it was five degrees from ninety outside and didn't break a sweat. We surveyed the house and admired the craftsmanship of one of Mechanico's close friends, a boy he watched grow up before his eyes.
We drove around looking for places for me to rent. I was happy with finding a hole in the wall wherever I could, but he pushed me to try and get a place for myself, something I've never had before. Of course, my main concern is my money and how much I have of it floating around. I can live with a modest start up..but too high and I start to get anxiety. He felt that I have nothing to worry about in terms of employment and that I should go all out on a place I want. The debate is still ongoing as of this writing.
We saw many different areas in his location. We didn't go more than a minute before I would pass yet another place he knew of where I could possibly stay since he knew the people who owned the place. I felt like I was on a school bus that stopped every minute to let some kids off..instead the kids were in the form of Mechanico knowing who lived there, the history behind the place, and how it could possibly work for me, and decided to slow down the vehicle at a gentle pace...even talking to whomever might be in front of the property of interest.
Okay, this is getting too long for most internet readers.
It is easy to see why Mechanico is successful with women (and life in general). He is confident, direct, and empathetic towards others. He may sometimes have a callous exterior, given the tough as nails style he exhibits, but he is actually quite charming and humorous, and he, if anything, is a man. A 100% thoroughbred male. Old School like Clint Eastwood in a Spaghetti Western, or Hemingway dipping his ink in whiskey and writing. The last of a dying species.
Anyway, thought I'd give credit where credit is due. I'll be meeting with him tomorrow to discuss my plans on how I am going to get this Florida ship off the ground.
Thankfully, having met Mechanico, I know I am in good hands.
