The Legend Of El Mechanico

Well, as if Mechanico needed another supporter but he has one in me.

I met up with him today at his auto shop. He is a man with a strong presence and I don't fuck around attitude. His assertion and quick calculations in all things financial skills and life wisdom is something to be admired and even imitated. He is, if anything, a survivor, and the empire he has built for himself is proof of that.

All the men and women I've met who met him respected him. His word and his push carries a lot of weight in where he stays. He's there even when he is not. His family has lived where he stays for over a hundred years. Many people who inhabit his location have lived there all their lives and have had parents, who have lived there all their lives as well. Friends, associates, everyone, in the same neighborhood, same secluded area, same cove of beauty, for generations. They all share a common culture that has not been tampered by the rest of that which decays the rest of the state of Florida and it fits well with the surrounding atmosphere.

And that atmosphere is gorgeous...

He took me to a well off the beaten path beach. Driving there felt like a dream. The beach itself was simply beautiful, it is the shit that you see in Post cards in Walgreens. The shit that inspires men to marry the woman they are with. The shit that makes a suicidal man put down the loaded shotgun down and decide to give life one more day. I could not believe how beautiful the beach was. To think that very few people know about the area is a testament to its natural beauty

And it will stay that way as far as I'm concerned...

The rest of the town was quite lovely, lots of long streets with different "beach shops" and tourists, A persistent ocean breeze blows through your air all the time, cooling the normally hot summers and mild winters. The place is so cool that I walked into a non-air conditioned house when it was five degrees from ninety outside and didn't break a sweat. We surveyed the house and admired the craftsmanship of one of Mechanico's close friends, a boy he watched grow up before his eyes.

We drove around looking for places for me to rent. I was happy with finding a hole in the wall wherever I could, but he pushed me to try and get a place for myself, something I've never had before. Of course, my main concern is my money and how much I have of it floating around. I can live with a modest start up..but too high and I start to get anxiety. He felt that I have nothing to worry about in terms of employment and that I should go all out on a place I want. The debate is still ongoing as of this writing.

We saw many different areas in his location. We didn't go more than a minute before I would pass yet another place he knew of where I could possibly stay since he knew the people who owned the place. I felt like I was on a school bus that stopped every minute to let some kids off..instead the kids were in the form of Mechanico knowing who lived there, the history behind the place, and how it could possibly work for me, and decided to slow down the vehicle at a gentle pace...even talking to whomever might be in front of the property of interest.

Okay, this is getting too long for most internet readers.

It is easy to see why Mechanico is successful with women (and life in general). He is confident, direct, and empathetic towards others. He may sometimes have a callous exterior, given the tough as nails style he exhibits, but he is actually quite charming and humorous, and he, if anything, is a man. A 100% thoroughbred male. Old School like Clint Eastwood in a Spaghetti Western, or Hemingway dipping his ink in whiskey and writing. The last of a dying species.

Anyway, thought I'd give credit where credit is due. I'll be meeting with him tomorrow to discuss my plans on how I am going to get this Florida ship off the ground.

Thankfully, having met Mechanico, I know I am in good hands.

Captain Ahab.

It is really great that he helps you like that. I suggest you listen to him concerning the place to rent - it might be one of your blond-spots that you cannot detect and he is helping you get over it.
Kudos to him for reaching out and helping a fellow-forum-member
Your post makes me want to meet the guy next time i am in Florida

I was always a sap for a good bro-mance story. If you invite El Mech over for some swanson meals, make sure to hide your tv remotes. He tends to go through quite a bit of them. The last thing you want is your television changing channels when some drunk bitch at the bar farts.

I'm not a big fan of Key West even though I wrote a sheet on the place. If I'm going to take a few days off I'm leaving the country. Everytime I go down there I feel like killing the locals after a couple hours

I've been excited about what I've read about Tampa - might even move there soon. But maybe it's really not Tampa that's so great, it's the mechanic?

I don't know. My buddy makes 50k and he's happy. This is a place you come to do your own shit and not work for others for too long. I've been flat rate and have owned my own place for 20 years but I have bad spending habits. For instance I have about 800 in my pocket now and by monday morning I'll have maybe 60 even though I'll be with my kid Sat and Sun. I'm buying a rock climbing Jeep monday for 2k. I'll have it on Craigslist for 4k ten minutes after I pick it up. I'm not the right person to ask about budget etc.

I went Apt hunting with Ahab and 550 a month seems to be the magic number remodeled one bed water view. 100 for power and cable/net 60?

550 could be a cottage or an apartment or a house. My ins is 70 a month full coverage.

About where I live. People here like people who aren't retarded. Capt Ahab was here rolling with me for a few hours here and there and today the locals were like WTF? where is that dude? They liked him and were willing to bend the "rules" to help him out. I get asked where Ali is and how's he doing daily and he was only here for a couple weeks or less. Actual Tampa proper is a nightmare of nonsense but with the sluttiest girls i've ever seen in my life. They make the hookers in santo domingo look like Wifey material. I got asked out by a customer today and after dating tampa girls for a couple weeks I was actually happy to date a normal chick. Dirk you can pick it up from here..

You just need to come here and not worry about it.

I've also been enjoying reading El Mech's posts for a long time, he is one of the coolest and most interesting guys here. I'd love to hang out with you one of these days. But damn man, 550 for a 1 bedroom with an ocean view? 70 a month for full car insurance coverage? Damn that's almost like Thailand rates, no kidding. To think that just the maintenance on my condo is 850 a month here in Boretown aka Toronto...you're making me reconsider giving Florida and more specifically Tampa a run in the near futurde for a few months...Btw, the 550 is that for a furnished pad or unfurnished one? How much for a furnished 1 bedroom pad with a beach view?

The Legend Of El Mechanico

No Church In The Wild.

The thing about Mechanico's area is that there is an understanding among people there, an understanding that if you show respect and have a good nature about you, you will get it back. The problem is so many people forget that simple rule-the rule Jesus nailed to his heart when those Romans thrust those steal spikes into his wrist, and he was on his journey in becoming the most known man in human history, of all time:

Do unto others as you would have done unto you.

Love thy neighbors as thy self.

It is that simple. Thing is, I know I didn't understand their world.

I knew I was lost like Dorthy without shoes to click, but they smiled at me anyway. I wanted to humble myself and be a student. I wanted to show my strongest side as best I could because I was anxious to be part of something, part of a community, wanting to make the lifestyle work,

...but beyond that...since even if girls weren't there, I'd still seek this area as a place to live. The people are the prize. Good treatment for Good work. Simple rules folks...I can't make it any easier.

This is The South at work.

*sigh* I guess this is what I have The South and all those rednecks to thank for. Granted, we have our differences on race issues, but we know how to treat a good man or woman. We understand what good relationships are about. We are willing to crack open a couple cold one's and enjoy the scenery and make good with conversation.

We don't need the 200k cars that people in South Florida drive or models in South Beach. We know what matters in life. We know what feeds the soul.

But I digress...

MLK was an interesting place. Everyone ever notice that every MLK in any city is a shit hole. Well, shit hole in Mechanic's area is still worthy of dropping some coin for a place on but it was a bit "shaded" to say the least. Perhaps the most interesting thing is that a black family lives in the area and cooks the most satisfying ribs a man can experience on earth. Their shit is so good they only have to open up shop two days a week. Everyone in the area knows what's up and show up in droves to crack some BBQ sauce and roasted cow meat in their teeth.

And yeah, the understanding is there.

Even in a vast majority white neighborhood you have a black mayor. Again, it isn't about race, it is about who you are. Real recognizes real, as they say where I am from.

So yeah, come one come all, don't hesitate. Tell em Captain Ahab sent ya. Tampa has a lot to offer a man. Lord knows my dick is raging hard for the fake boobs, white teeth and confederate tattooed white trash I saw. This is the RVF forum and we are here to get pussy. I get it.

But if Mechanico's area taught me anything it is the power of authenticy. Good ol' boy, real, shoot first, kinda folks. You are in good hands here.

In an era of Iphones, celebrity worship, and yes, G-Manfiesto wannabes, it is a welcome surprise.

Come visit yall.

I got a room for 380, everything included, with a forum member. It is a nice spot until I get enough cash to get my own. Hell, getting a room under 400 with everything included is damn near impossible. I lucked out, as with many different events in this whole Tampa move. Kinda eerie.
