300 USD a month, stay where?
05-27-2012, 02:23 PM
Yes for Eastern Europe you want $1500 a month to be comfortable. This means having your own apartment, feeding yourself well, clothing yourself with western brands, taxis, nightlife, gym, and some travel
Have a date with a hot girl tomorrow, a solid 8. Really pretty face too, cool personality. My approach will be different to the Ukraine. In Bgrad it's closer to Italian gaming, you have to take her out a couple of times and sweet talk her. In the Lvov it's was more like getting your hand down her knickers asap.

I was just talking to my boy from Toronto and he said you can live on 1300 dollars per month in NY (he lived in NY before). Saying that, this means that you can live with that money pretty much anywhere. You wont have a luxury life but you will be able to live like a regular person.
That's a lie. I live just outside NY and I pay $1000 a month for rent. To have a small shithole studio in NYC will cost you $2000 easily. He might be talking about somewhere in bumblefuck upstate NY.
Upstate New Yorker here: I can confirm that even that bird won't fly. You won't be living well on $1300 a month anywhere upstate. You can live, but expect a very low quality of life. You'd need some luck, or connections (perhaps an informal arrangement with some friends) to get by reliably each month. If you are married or in an LTR with a partner pulling the same income, you have a better shot (seen this done). Even then, expect to struggle.
Rent alone will eat up at least half of that (and this is for a shitty place). By the time you're done with groceries, taxes, your car (you better have a car up there),insurance and other expenses, you'll be running on empty. It would be completely irresponsible to tell someone that $15600 is a reasonable annual income for this area. It isn't.
As for living in NYC on that money? If Pitt's friend had come to me with that idea ("yo dawg, you can get by on $1300 in NYC!"), I'd have laughed right in his face.

Athlone i think it all comes down to how you spend your money. On the other thread i had this guy telling me that you will hardly survive on 1300 dollars per month in London, he is somewhat wrong because i dont spend more than 1300 dollars per month and i usually do whatever i want to do. I also eat out everyday so how is that possible? I dont think im tight with money, i just dont throw away money. I dont do much clubbing at all, most of my money i spend in food.
p.s.that 1300 dollars per month, im not including buying clothes because i usually buy clothes every 3 months

I've been to Kos, Greece. Lots of drunken scandinavians and brits. A fun time if you're 18, but not anymore...

Actually, somewhere that has a good atmosphere for getting some work done. As a library or university, where I could get some help. A quiet cafe with air condition is also good.

pitt anyone living on benefits even in some shitty small town in the UK, let alone London isn't living a 'normal' life unless they are getting so many different benefit payments because they have dozens of kids, are disabled or are screwing the system or are making money on the side from cash in hand work. The standard 50 quid a week jobseekers allowance isn't enough to live off, it's not even enough to survive if you have rent, bills, food, transport to pay. It wouldn't even cover most peoples rent let alone any of the other essentials to survive and definitely not leave money leftover for recreational or fun stuff.

Having just come back from Prag and Budapest.
I would say you probably could live in one of those cities for 1300.
I used airbnb to rent an apartment.
The same guy say he use to rent the apartment to hungarians for 2-300 a month.
One bedroom, kitchen, living room. bathroom with tub. Real nice place.
And he said thats not uncommon.
I stayed with a friend in Prag. He isn't living in style..but has a place thats pretty much a really small studio apartment.
This is Prag..so you arent getting something nice. But he is affording to go out almost every night and have a little fun since the city is cheap if you arent surrounded by the tourist gaggle.
I wasn't in his business but I wouldnt be surprised to hear he is only spending about 1k a month
I am the cock carousel

Parlay, you live in Bergen? I think it's feasable to live outside of BK or Manhattan (queens, harlem) on that kind of money, but you will definitely be pinching pennies and living with roommates and not in the best areas.

Yes $1300 in somewhere like Budapest becomes the equivalent of say $5000 in somewhere like New York. Not too shabby

i don't think you can live in macedonia on 5k a year! yeah, it's cheaper than some other places. but, not that cheap. to live comfy western style player life calculate at least 1k euro a month. a nice pad, dining out, taxi, gym, a bit of traveling, ....
macedonians are the coolest motherfuckers over there and probably the only non-rascists in the balkans!
macedonian girls are the only exYU girls that are not so difficult
macedonian is close to bulgarian. well, bulgarians use russian cyrillic while macedonians use serbian cyrillic

You could also try a Greek island in the summer. This is a representative video of the famous Chersonissos on Kreta. As you see plenty of targets and the crew changes every single day.
Hah! I was at Starbeach for a week for my senior trip!
I got my first lay there.
Good memories.
