i have never once saw anyone walk up to a random girl an try to game here. it just doesnt happen, even when a super hot girl walks by a big group of guys they dont turn an watch her leave or smile at each other or anything. day game here does not exsist.

so sometimes when you try an get a girls attention or talk to a random girl they jump an get scared an have no idea what the hell you are doing, they seriously react like you have on a hokey mask and a macheted. even sometimes trying to ask for directions or which train is which. now not all girls have this reaction but i would say 50% do....

ive never seen this anywhere else i have ever been other then china. day game? good luck with that

What kind of openers are you using? I don't understand how simple Elderly openers or asking for directions could be frowned upon by these girls...

its usually as soon as you get thier attention. i was standing waiting for a train an i had already taken the wrong one once. there was a girl standing beside me i had my suicase with me i was obviously traveling an i turned to her an said "excuse me" an she looked terrifed like i said "hey i wanna eat your children" an walked away quikly.

It doesnt matter what you say you can say hey, or tap their shoulder an they look at you like WTF dont kill me!! like i said i have never saw anything like this in any other place i have been... and also like i said not every girl reacts this way but a good bit do. it just seems crazy to me the startled look of fear in their eyes when someone talks to them.

The question I pose to you then is - how does the terrified reaction affect your game?

Like, if she reacts looking terrified, do they quickly calm and become receptive to game, or no?

If they do become receptive to game, do you pursue the same conversational path as you would while gaming a girl that didn't seem surprised/terrified?

Crepin,
Have you tried approaching and opening them in chinese? If yes, is the reactin considerably different than opening and approaching them in English? Which city in China are you having this kind of experience if you don't mind me asking.

I wanted to ask the same thing. Which part of China are you currently at? Whats your Chinese level? Are you opening them in Chinese or English ?

I do in fact concur with the scared part Cr33pin says; some people (children especially), tend to be very scared of my height and big eyes.

But for me personally, it seems less like scared and more like being self-conscious; so many people stare at me, and when I say 'Hello!', they wait until like ten feet behind me to say it back, or they say it instantly and giggle amongst themselves. What you've gotta do is do the daygame as she walks by, not the approach so much, because from what I have seen, the Chinese are very communal and travel together in packs (as I mentioned in the first post), so we can probably assume that most of the people who end up together are social-circle couples. I usually open with 'Hello!', and if they say it back, shoot 'How are you today?', and if she can say that well, assume she has rudimentary English, so use your rudimentary Chinese (I use the listen function on Google translate for basic sentences, and I believe that there is a Pimsleur available) to try and talk with her, but beware; she might say no boyfriend...if she's even passably good looking there is certainly a boyfriend, but whatever. China is not the walk of all walks and I don't want you thinking that, but there are several elements here that as a foreigner dramatically increase your odds of getting high-quality women.

Two advantages you have as a foreigner are that you stand out; people just notice you (and I'm sure Cr33pin can attest to getting stared at a lot, I know I do), and that the assumption is that you have money, and money in China is king; they may be Communist in name, but it's like Capitalism on steroids here, the way people spend and worship the RMB. Like I said earlier; I see beta behavior and busted dudes with babes here all the time; have game, but know that China is functional, the women are feminine and submissive and dress sexy; turn the alpha male down a touch on your calibration.

I will be visiting Shanghai at the end of the month, so I'll probably have some data up soon.

Im in Shenzhen, I do sometimes open in mandrin an still get the freaked out looks. Usually after i get the crazy OMG dont kill me look i just smile an walk away... i dont pursue any game after that BS.

Nonpareil is right i get lots of stares, smiles, giggles and everything in between. Its not like every girl wigs out when you get thier attention but its not like its a one time thing either. Some young girl on the bus yesterday smiled an waved at me when i got on the bus, an everytime i looked at her she smiled real big... she was very cute but young enuff to get me in trouble im sure. then when i got off the bus she said bye bye an waved at me thru the window... then walking back to the apartment a group of highschool girls smiled an waved at me an keep saying hello... i smiled an said hello in mandrin they all yelled an giggled i just walked away haha... so its not like every girl has this OMG he doesnt know me an got my attention hes gonna kill me attitude.

Now during night time in clubs an bars its a diffrent story.. girls are very excited to talk to me or take pics with me an so on. but fuck day game here... foreal

"I see beta behavior and busted dudes with babes here all the time; have game, but know that China is functional," agreed two of the hottest girls i saw here at a table next to me at the club with some fat goofy looking guy with glasses. he was well dressed with armani gear an a huge bottle of henessy an moet.... he ended up leaving an the bottle of hen it was still almost full. I grabed it put it on my table an started pouring shots for everyone haha i felt like a boss..

I've never been to China, but this doesn't surprise me at all. Some cultures are very reserved. I could see Chinese girls being startled by some random foreigner coming up to them out of the blue and talking to them.

Really Cr33pin, the money is king. I won't say what I make exactly, but if you consult this handy chart (from 2004, but still), but I mean damn...just damn. That's the assumption that being foreign carries; 'Oh he's foreign? He must be rich!' (and relative to those numbers, hell even triple the annual figures, and Laoshi English are).

Seriously think about what 'game' is; game, at least in North America, evolved from a need to fuck women who try to compete with men (and I know two specific North American girls; the first is easygoing but sarcastic and never misses a chance to reveal how sexually empowered (read: slutty) she was in the past (read: still is), the other is a picky and judgmental pain in the ass who thinks that because she was born in America that the sun shines out of her ass, and neither of these girls are attractive - do they come any other way?). It's really just a big dick-swinging competition that evolved, out of necessity, to dealing with women that have become masculinized but the women in China, or at least the vast majority of them that I have met, aren't pretending to be guys, so you need to pull back on the bad-boy alpha thug who doesn't give a fuck angle, in fact too much of it is counterproductive; you do not need to actively demonstrate that you have a bigger dick than these women because they haven't been raised to believe that they have them in the first place. The goofy-looking anime nerd with the hot girlfriend is very likely not moonlighting as a Triad Red Pole, he probably goes to University or has a decent, but not great-paying job and carries her purse, says sweet things to her and helps her out.

I wouldn't call Chinese culture 'reserved'; at least amongst each other, the people are very animated and affectionate. No, I would call Chinese culture (for lack of a better term) xenophobic; before you visit, read the history of China, then after a month here tell me I'm wrong; they don't hate or fear outsiders, but it does shake things up for them.

Age will always be tricky; 90% of the time I have no idea how old the girls are (China also has some sort of fucked up 'real age' and 'academic age' thing where your real age is two less than, or two more than, your academic age or some shit); is she in high school or college? Is she 25 or 35? The women stay neotonous until well into their 30's, and damn shit is confusing.

Fretdancer, I see you're learning Mandarin, good for you. 'Hello' is fine, 'How are you?' if she replies (and you will learn how to shoot some game from your classes...or just type and listen to Google Translate, write the Pinyin, and write how the Pinyin sounds, because it's as confusing as fuck). Hello works because girl probably has a Chinese boyfriend already; accept right now, before you get here, that these girls don't like you for you, they like you because you're exotic (but like you should care). English will help put the foot in the door, Mandarin, a good income and nice looks will help you pull the other foot through and shut it behind you.

Also, I can't help but guess from your name that you're a guitar player...if you're any good (I am okay), definitely bring your axe; no one here can play and again, I am okay (I am better than someone who doesn't know how to play, but relative to someone who has some chops? I look like a rookie), and I get tons of props for it.

Me neither, but I wasn't referring to a cold approach. Just an indirect 'ask for directions' approach, which should be very common specially if it comes from a foreigner.

The way you take it after that line its a whole different story though.

Thanks for adding more insight Cr33pin and Nonpareil. Really appreciate it.

@Nonpareil: Yes I'm studying very hard and I'm at a conversational Mandarin level with limited vocabulary (aprox. 500 words or so). And yes I do play, taking an electric axe and an acoustic axe sounds really good, but I would only do it if I would be staying more than 6 months.

Which makes me want to ask. As a foreigner without a job contract, what is the longest time the PRC can allow you to stay there? I mean like finding an appartment and paying rent for a good while (maybe 1 year?). I want to experience China to its fullest, not just a little vacation trip.

Speaking Mandrin is gonna open up soooooooooooo many more opportunities for you FretDancer. Like i said im stuck trying to find girls online that speak english or go to the english speaking part of towns an that really limits my options (last night i banged a canadian chick, she speaks english eh) Even if you get the scarred OMG dont kill me look, you should be able to recover if you smile stick with it an start elderly open/ ask directions type game. i went out yesterday an didnt get any OMG dont kill me looks, actually had a good bit of flirty smiles an giggles so its not that there is no day game. Just for me not speaking Mandrin makes it really really hard to do so.

I was only able to get a 60 day 6 month 2 entry visa for my first visa here... where i have 60 days max to stay here 30 at a time cause after 30 days you have to leave the country. an i had 6 months to spende those 2 sets of 30 days... now if your trying to get a work visa it may be diffrent but... i think no matter what type of visa you get you have to leave the country after 30 days, my friend has a year long work visa but still ever 30 days has to hop on the train an go to hong kong an come back. you may want to try googling this or maybe a memeber on here can help you more... but from what my friends who lives here says, you pretty much always have to leave after 30 days an come back. Pain inthe ass an something you should take into consideration when you picking a place to stay

Keep with the Mandrin Fret an your gonna have the time of your life here!!!

Sounds like a pain in the ass indeed, damn.

Have you tried gaming with QQ? I chat online with tons of beautiful young chinese chicks and they keep asking me when I'm going to go to China. I tell you its a powerful tool that I can only see it getting even better if you're over there.

Try downloading and installing it, you can join Language XChange groups or Night Life In China groups with the same application, its so easy.

Also its amazing how actually girls find you in QQ. Like 80% of my contacts were requests to me and not the other way around.

Thanks man, I'm really dying to get over there, doing everything possible.

And pretty much anyone who speaks engrish can get a job teaching over here you dont need college or anything.. granted with a degree or if you are certified you will have more a better chance at landing a higher paying job, but its not at all required

Most of my contacts are girls who add me. Be sure you have a nice photo on your profile.

Also there is something called QQ Space or QQ空间, its like a facebook profile. It's in chinese (and I haven't figured out if you can change it to english) but if you manage to upload some good solid photos, you will do better.

Finally, you can look for Social Groups on the Groups tab (check attacment). There are many categories such as Nightlife, Language, Travelling, Music, etc. etc.

Send a request to join the group. Once you are in, start getting to know the peeps, once you seem solid and legit, add the cute girls to your contacts and talk to them in private, take it from there!

Regarding your english teaching post, what are your thoughts on non-American people like me? Is it still easy to get a job to teach English? I've been wanting to get like a 1 year contract teaching english over there, seems to me that it would be a hell of an experience.

Man there is some serious talent in Shenzhen... im not sure why but theres always a flock of models out on the weekends at Coco park. Plus when these Chinese chickens get done up to go out they are some stunners! Some places you go the girls are just like 3 times hotter then other places...

i was playing Squash with these 2 Chinese girls yesterday (only two people play so we had to take turns) Some french chick opened me an made me share her beer with her while i was waiting to play squash again (she was ok but i was already with the other girls) Then when i was playing squash i looked out the glass an there was another french girl that was super hot... had a belt on which i think she considered shorts, her ass was hanging out like crazy... she was hot all around, ass, tits, face, legs, stomach.... damn she was hot

your friend doesn't have a real work visa if he has to pull a runner every month. A real work visa (Z) is multi entry and lasts a year. He might have an F visa.

All these questions on day game and internet game have been covered in other posts numerous times.

Talking to strangers in China is not normal (very few exceptions), so they will be scared bc they don't trust you. They panic bc of this and bc they are trying to remember there english and have no social skills. Even if you approach them in Mandarin 1/3 are not listening to you and have no clue that you are speaking their language.

They will much more polite to a foreigner than they will to a Chinese, bc you are a guest and there culture dictates that they should be good hosts.

internet game is king there. Be playful, be polite, be fun. Bars and clubs are good too, daygame is possible but the others are better.

"You can't change the rules after you take someones money"

hahaha...you have a lot to learn about the Chinese

Also not all hotels are allowed to have foreigners in them, they have to have a special permit to have foreigners stay there. Possibly the person who took your cash didn't know that or the person at night didn't know the rules or hated you. Chinese rarely know the rules or what is going on. You never know what is going on beneath the surface in China, just the way it is.

Whenever crap like that happens ask to talk to the manager and they will let you do whatever you want.

That's one thing I've noticed; they'll slap their own mother for more cash.

Shanghai is off for the month (but whatever, I'm two hours out, I'll go when I'm better funded, but it also brought me to a new point of note; If you want something done, you have to be a little pesky. In China, even the very act of sending money home took six days of me asking someone to help me, and I have to get my VISA renewed soon...I'm sure that'll be pleasant and require absolutely no push on my end to get done...
