Gringo I knew shot and killed in Medellin

Hey Mech. I've had no choice until now, I have too many travel restrictions. I am leaving this city soon for good. I don't paint a pretty picture because I've been here for a very long time. It is not a safe city at all, but if anyone stays for only a few weeks to a year, chances are they won't see much. However, in 20+ years living close to dangerous areas, I've seen the worst this place can offer. I've moved twice because of extortion and my first robbery was when I was 10 from some teen with a hunting knife, it has given me a lot to tell but it comes to a point that you just can't stand it anymore.

I do recommend visiting the city and having fun here. Living, on the other hand....

Hear ye, hear ye do not go to south america, they are all savages down there and if you are white you will most likely be killed. They only recently got the internet down there thats why these stories are just surfacing.

My ex Colombian wife hates going to Colombia even to visit her family. Why don’t guys just acknowledge that they are going to a violent shithole to get women instead of making up a delusion that it is safe?

Wedo you decided on Medellin over Cali long term?
I really haven't spent enough time in Medellin yet to make a decision.
But I already know that the city of Medellin it self is much nicer than Cali and I can see why so many gringos like living there. But ultimately my decision will be made on the women (Paisas vs Calenas).

So from your comments Wedo, the key in Colombia is to find a trustworthy cabbie/driver. How do you find a good one, specially initially when you go to a new city? Specially for a first timer like me?
Is this bad taxi mainly a Medellin thing or is it spread all across Colombia?

You don't need to find trustworthy cab drivers....you can call the taxi company on your cell phone....don't hang up until you get the taxi's number so you don't get in the wrong one. You'll probably feel a little stupid doing this all the time because you will see everybody and his brother just getting taxis off the street and chances are very slim that a taxi driver will set you up ...but it does happen especially in the zona rosa of any large city....so if you feel the need to be very safe then always call the cab company directly.

Ha let us know what you decide.

@Wedo -Ha! Meeting you in Cali was a great decision for me I may be joining you in about 2 years with a similar set up (yeah my Spanish is awful but that will be fixed after a few months in latam).

Sounds like Medellin is tougher from a pulling perspective so it will be interesting to see if the girls are really hot enough.

Volk has a good point. Too many times a country is given a positive image because a tourist visited for 2 weeks and nothing happened to them.

I was in Colombia for a number of months and while nothing happened to me I heard many stories from Colombians themselves. My girlfriend has been robbed 4 times, once at gunpoint and all in broad daylight. You've got cases of imposter police officers, scams, extortion to name only a few. To make the case that Colombia is a safe country is a sheer lie, it still is far from it.

Because one actually LIVES down here instead of existing in a "safe" plastic bubble with land whales, entitled princesses and strip malls that are boring as fuck.....

If you read my post carefully, you will see that I didn't say to not to go to Colombia. I just advocate acknowledging the true situation whatever it is so that you can deal with it with a clear mind. I actually think it could be a good education for gringos living in protected anglo nanny states.

Personally I feel a lot safer in Colombia than Mexico.

But with all the fear mongering going on....I wonder if there isn't a business opportunity here for a little hand holding.

How many guys would really like to go to Colombia but just aren't able to pull the trigger due to perceived security risks?

And how much of a premium would you be willing to pay for a pimped out room in a high end apartment shared with other like minded gringos. I could provide a list of trusted drivers, translators and even female wingmen to help you pick up chicks in high end clubs.

What is hand holding worth to a risk averse guy that just wants to bang as many hot colombianas as possible without potentially subjecting himself to street crime?

Wedo you could easily pull that off.

In your shoes I would just target people with high end jobs and no social life (wall street and lawyers).

Using RVF will be harder because most guys willing to travel and hook up with chicks that have cash on his forum don't need as much hand holding. It's more of a "fraternity". Where you meet up with people exchange some info then roll out solo.

Now if you targeted a bunch of guys who have had sex with under 10 women I have no doubt you'd pull this off. In fact your entire lifestyle would be perfect for all the idiots on Wall Street who have a tendency to go down to Argentina to wife hunt.

The trick is convincing the guys that the girls you're helping them meet really "love them". Most of these guys would literally pay to have girls with them at bottle service. It really is that pathetic. I know guys who pay $500 a night just to hang out with 2-3 "models". No sex included. Just "companionship".

Tl;dr: yes I think you could do it and make a killing $500 a night minimum, but I think using RVF is tougher because people here are savvy and simply use information and go on their own way.

Reiterate point below from wwt, but... If you target the right sheep...

I don't think most guys on this forum would be interested in hand holding. That sounds like it would be better marketed to whore mongers or guys looking for wives.

Why not? I'm not scared but it would streamline my trip. Look at the DR driver do you know how much ass he's responsible for?

Some dudes can only leave for long weekends and shit so this is perfect.

I never really thought about short trips. I could see the appeal and it would probably save you a lot of wasted time. I still wouldn't want to share a penthouse with other guys but having a hook up on a place for a short time would be cool.

Wedo I know you would never take advice from a punk ass kid like me but look at this guy:

http://careerhack.net/doing-business-in-...nightlife/

This is what I would do if I was you. I don't know Spanish well enough or have the connects but I plan on doing this same set up or similar in about 2 years. I finally got this set up on a small scale for night game and don't pay for anything anymore.

The broke ass dude probably only had $100K in the bank and pulled it off, 2 years on the street is nothing and he got it done with no connects. If he can pull it off so cld you, I can't hate on him because that's pretty much the long-term goal.

You have a slew of hot chicks through years of living there, capitalize on it by opening a sick venue with tons of hot chicks every night and the people will flock to it.

Now you're also a club owner so, yeah I think you could quite easily do something like this with your long history of connects in Cali.

Hell in two years if you're still down there I would invest heavily myself into your biz since I know it would work. Can't cost more than $50-70K to get going so you could definitely pull it off.

Your original idea is even cheaper, most rich guys are losers searching for "the one" so you could definitely start that sort of biz up as well.

Nice

I've been to that club a couple of times and liked the way he has it set up...mostly small tables with bar stools so you could make an approach or at least see what the chicks look like without having to wait for them to get up. jajaja

Never realized that it was owned by an American.

In all seriousness if you need investors PM me if you decide to do something similar in Cali. I'd be stupid not to invest.

You're even better set up for it since, if I recall correctly, you have opened a biz up before on Colombia so the red tape stuff you probably already have on lock.

In your shoes i would open a high end spot since that is of course where the $$$/hot women are at.

So yeah 1) target the wife hunting loaded idiots (wall street/lawyers/doctors etc with no game). Or 2) set up a spot and have large groups of people show up and capitalize like the previous article.

Both would work IMHO (which again means nothing ha.)

I could see wife hunters going for the service. But why would a whore monger waste his money on a nice pad, translator or a wing woman?
I could just take him to the nearest whorehouse tape a hundred dollar bill to his forehead and push him inside. But what would that service be worth? jajaja

heh Well, I was thinking more of day to day activities, not so much the mongering stuff. That would be funny watching you navigate a group of old dudes with hundreds on their foreheads. Definitely take a video of it and post it on youtube for some ad revenue. I bet it would light up on views.

Ok, I'll keep that in mind. I have a gringo friend in Cali that is part owner of Bourbon Street in Cali and he is always looking for new gigs. I'll run it by him.

Just came back from Medellin last week & can confirm that it's not all that safe - but where is nowadays? I passed as a Columbian from Cali, but still had watch my back. Especially from the cabbies, who were all about trying to get into your business. Don't let them or girls you just met know your real plans. NEVER, I repeat NEVER try to pull a girl at a club from another table/booth unless you get introduced from a guy at that table.

What surprises me is that Medellin has the highest concentration of chicks of any city I have been to but the guys there seemed very possessive.

Other than that I found Columbians to be very friendly and outgoing. But you can't be naive and think that you can role just anywhere - especially if you are a gringo. I didn't see any at any of the clubs I went to.

Sorry to hear about your loss WEDO, I plan to go to Colombia in January, for quite a while, will take in every bit of safety info I can get. Anyone that has been there, have they been worried about FARC? I read that two Spanish tourists were recently rescued from being kidnapped and managed to get back home safe.
