The Smile Test and the Awkward Near Collision

As I attempt to jump into game while attempting to keep my LTR around I need to work on not focusing too much on past bangs and possible bangs I know. I need to carefully branch out and pick up a good bang or two on the side in the large city I work in...

I realize eye contact is important and on an approach I need to start working on openers to get some idea of how to start getting some new practice.

I've thought about two things that may mean nothing or might be something other gamers notice and use in their game:

I'm wondering about using smiling as not only a "test" but also as a pre-opener....

I thought of this test this week and decided to try it out whenever I see girls on the street, I'm always checking girls out and if I make eye contact I figure I need to do something...

I'll see a cute girl and when we're close on the street I'll look, make eye contact and smile (not a goofy ass grin or wide smile) a small friendly smile. Many many girls do not break a smile or avert their eyes, but some do smile a little smile back and make eye contact. Some also briefly look back after passing or bite their lip when saying Hi. (It might mean nothing but it seems to show there is something going on differently).

I've noticed some girls will even smile and say "Hi" or "Hey." And to me that seems like a clear sign to make an opener move. Granted if we're both moving in opposite directions it's tricky so I suppose in coffee shops, trains, and areas like that the ability to act will be higher.

Secondly, what I call the Awkward Near Collision...

I noticed this happens often, most recently the other night. Usually in tight hallways, doorways, stairwells, elevators. You basically turn corner, open door, etc at the precise time the girl does on the other side and boom near collision..

I need to break the habit of a bad filler of something dumb I seem to do which is to go "Oopps or Ohh" before saying "Sorry about that, "Excuse me" or nothing at all. Besides that I've noticed it seems like a great opportunity to make eye contact, smile, and make some small joke about the environment or situation.

Are these two items already in use in gaming, should they be, or are they just a waste of time?
