I saw it in school growing up, then in the workplace over the years. It stands to reason these guys would gravitate towards internet forums now. NASA Test Pilot was obviously of this type.

Eh, I'd argue there's a difference between tall tales and self-aggrandizing liars. One's for entertainment purposes, and the other is to establish a phony reputation. When it's the latter, I'm always expecting them to follow up with some attempt to weasel time or money out of me and it eats at me until I can't stand being around the person.

You could have posted the odd weird story here and there and no one would have cared all that much. You could have been the next cardguy, but you just had to keep going. Jean Valjean has decided to totally ignore my very simple question about meeting other forum members (and also ignored other members' replies here asking details of his claims) and instead decided to start 2 new long ass threads yesterday here and here.

I'm not surprised.

In the controversial thread back in February 2017 where he claimed to have married a prostitute and tolerated her continued whoring during the marriage he was both intensely questioned and called out by various forum members and never replied again in that thread. In fact he stopped posting on the RVF altogether for a month after that post from the 20th of February all the way until the 15th of March, hoping we'd all forget. But who can forget that ?

Most felons need to do to jail. Remember, taxpayers foot the bill for unused jail space as per the quotas of Corrections Corporation of America. Most of them have occupancy requirements of 90-100% and if this is not met, they are facing huge fines. When crime is low (or predicted to lower), offenders need longer sentences to keep the prisons full. There's no money in an empty prison.
