LONGVIEW, Wash. -- The Cowlitz County prosecutor says she won't charge a Longview woman who admitted she lied when she said her father raped her -- sending him to prison for more than nine years.

Prosecutor Sue Baur says charging Cassandra Kennedy might discourage girls from reporting sexual assaults.

Now 23 years old, Cassandra Kennedy says guilt prompted her to tell police in January that she lied as an 11-year-old in 2001 in Kalama.

The Daily News reports her father, Thomas Edward Kennedy, denied the allegation but was convicted by a jury and sentenced in 2002 to more than 15 years in prison.

Now 43, Thomas Kennedy was released last week and all charges against him were dismissed.

Cassandra Kennedy says she lied because she was disappointed in her father after her parents divorced.

I think this may have been posted before, but that reasoning is the biggest bunch of BS I have seen of late.

I guess the 9 years of that innocent guys life being wasted is no big deal.

Note of course that the prosecutor is a broad.

Well guys, this is a really complex case.


I'm not one to support feminist laws. But this was an 11-year old girl. You can't convinct a full grown woman for actions she did at 11. No one is rational at 11.


On the other hand, the people that believed the testimony of an 11 year old girl over a full grown man, such as the judges and lawyers - these people should be thrown in jail and locked without the key, for perverting justice.

Agreed on both counts. However, take note of the following as well:

1. This girl failed to come forward for a full 12 years after her father was convicted--5 of those after she turned 18. All that time, her father was sitting in jail serving an unjust sentence. Her continued silence after reaching the age of criminal responsibility should count for something.

2. The fact that the girl was 11 when she got her father sent to jail isn't the reason that the prosecutor cited for not charging her:

This reasoning gets it exactly backwards--what it would discourage is girls falsely reporting sexual assaults. That's a good thing.

So yes, I agree with you that the fact that she was 11 when the crime was committed complicates matters. But she is still not blameless, and this prosecutor is a misandrist piece of shit.

Women can be evil and vindictive when they don't get their way. It was probably the wife that programmed the daughter into making the false claims to screw him after the divorce. It's not unheard of. It's like the wife's last fuck you to the husband. A display of power.

Women usually get custody after the divorce by default. What is the 11 year old supposed to do? She has to do what her mother tells her. She has nowhere to go. She was probably told that she would go to a foster home if she didn't do what she was told.
