Where to go game in Toronto on a Thursday night?

I'm going to visit friends in Toronto next week.

I'm trying to figure out how to make the best of what this forum considers the world's worst situation on Thursday. Where should one go on a Thursday night in downtown Toronto to game? I would prefer a bar over a night club, but I'm flexible on that. Expensive drinks and cover are not a problem.

Geography is important. Going more than few blocks north of bloor street isn't really an option.

scroll down, and click thursday, and check out events. I recommend going to an event on Thursday nights as opposed to just randomly picking a bar/club as not many people party on Thursday night (they have work friday morning). Keep in mind girl ratio on weekends is usually better than during week days, but still shitty, therefore going to an even should produce a decent girl ratio.

I did go to Century Room on a thursday once. Yes its a nightclub, i realize the stigma behind it, however it was somewhat tolerable, we got there super early so got in for $10 cover (others later on in the night had to pay $20). Beers are $6+, one floor, one dance floor, surrounded by booths. If you get there early, you're allowed to sit at a booth even if it is reserved, until people who reserved it get there (which they don't till midnight or so). Smoking patio is cool, especially these days, you won't suffer much and i was opened three times outside when i went for a smoke by 8s/9s, not bad. Music sucked later on in the night, the DJ there is an idiot, hope they got a better one. At first he played some house/electro, some good top 40 remixes, then started sucking, cutting good songs short.

Oh yah, one more thing if you do decide to go there, i found bartenders there to be "friendlier" than any other place, so try to chit chat a bit with them when you get there early, let them remember you a little so that it gets easier for you to get drinks when it gets packed later on.

This is a general rule of thumb anywhere you go actually, build some rapport with the bartender, especially if it was a guy bartender. Its harder to do so with a girl bartender especially in Toronto as she will lump you with the category of "another drunk guy, pre-drank too much, trying to hit on me cuz there are no hot girls around yet", but it is still manageable if you hint that you're from outta town, that sort of thing.

Thursdays are terrible. Easily the worst night to party in TO I find. Sundays are weak but at least Cheval guarantees a descent time evrey week. Last time I hit Century Room on a Thursday have the bar was draped off and it was a quarter full? It had some decent girls there but it was not that great.

If your young try Grace Omalleys (spelling is way off but Omalleys is spelt 'Irishy'). Its finals soon but its a pub usually packed up with students Thursday or Friday. Try the Tompson Hotel also it might have a decent crowd to mingle with in a nice lounge setting. If you head west on Queen Street The Beaconsfield or The Drake will have crowds. After work people hit this up and most stay into the evening to have drinks. Its a older crowd, lots of dudes in suits from work, a lot of tools there too lol but its usually always busy.

If you want a more trendy scene there is a new brewpub that opened in Kensington Market. I forget the exact name but its along the lines of 'Thirsty Misery' or somethingn its on Baldwin Ave. I have never been but since its new each time I have walked passed (once on a thursday) it was packed.

Depends on what type of women and scene you are into. Most colleges and universities (college in canada is a community 2year school). They have pub nights in local bars. Even the colleges and unis in Toronto, many of the students go to.

As for chilling places where you might find the working class girl, office type. King street west has a lot of bars and clubs. I would recommend thurs thru weekend any supper club. Spice route for example, has a big patio and a centre bar where you can do a lot of mingling. It's walking distance to all the bars on king st west and if you ain't feeling it, and want to go to a strip club, there is one called for your eyes only walking distance.

If you are in the east end, go to JOEYs in the don mills centre.

Queen west you have drake. Drake on a thursday night has an older crowd usually and good vibe. Friday there is not bad, but once a month on a Friday you have a special dj if I am correct and it gets busy. When there is a hip hop dj, expect to see the hotties. Saturdays, expect to see a mix of age groups. Lots of females go there for dinner parties and stay to drink afterwards. Again, Thursday, ain't as packed and more chill.

To sum up, stick to the supper clubs with a center bar where you can post up or mingle. These place have worked well for me. Do a search, supper clubs in Toronto and you will get the addresses.

Hit up The Madison Pub. Its on Bloor and Madison Avenue, right by Bloor and Spadina. This place is THE go-to place on Thursdays for University students, as its right in the frat area of the University of Toronto. It hits capacity every single Thursday. Luckily, the place is huge with 3 floors, as its a revamped Victorian home. Cheap drinks as well. You won't be disappointed.
