Admittedly, I'm a tech head, getting my start with young in amateur radio, and tearing anything apart to see what made it work. Since I've worked on some of the most advanced military grade equipment out there. This bleeds into my personal life, and I'm always on the lookout for high speed, low drag tech to make my life easier on the road.

I'm curious as to what you guys use while traveling. It's all about size, weight, and reliability while traveling abroad on the prowl.

Recently I purchased on of these:

It's small enough to slip into a back pocket, and takes great pics. The non-slip body is also a huge plus. The price was nice too.

To solve the sound problem, I picked up these from the airlines duty free:

They sure beat trying to listen to music straight from your laptop. Their great to help set the mood. I recommend paying up for a bluetooth version.

I may pick up one of these, or similiar:

Great way to record your approaches. You can clip it on your shirt or blazer and film away, undetected.

This one hasn't been released yet, but it sounds pretty cool. I'm horrible for not taking pictures, but being able to sit outside of a cafe and take a 360 degree panoramic shot, with myself included is tits. I'll buy it hands down.

Can you recommend a portable audio recorder? I've been inspired to purchase one after reading and viewing Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Basically I need something about the size of an MP3 player with decent audio pickup that isn't absurdly priced.

By the way, I really like the idea of a digital camera with a non-slip body. Gonna have to find one for myself when I finally upgrade from the 7MP Nikon I've been using since 2008.

Not to sound like a fanboy here, but iPhones are the shit. Seriously.
The 4s has an amazing camera and does pretty much everything else you need.

I've had mine for about 4 months now and it is incredibly useful.

The silver USB audio recorder is what I'd buy. It's small and doubles as a storage device, and it's cheap too.

When looking for gadgets, I try to keep everything congruent with SD card technology, and anything that can be charged via USB port from my laptop. This cuts down on needing a card reader, or having a jumble of extra charging/data cables.
