Lot of natural blond women there I've hear. I wonder how different women look there compared to the ones on east/west coasts.

Don't go there for broads. Go to make money.

On the other side of the state, Fargo, there are a fair number of hotties but remember it's a BIG state. The women are so outnumbered in the Bakken their bitch shields have to be set at a level that would make the Death Star proud. I was reading about some of them planning to get concealed carry permits as they do not feel safe with so many horny guys around.

around 10 mpg? And you're going to need heat. It's cold up there. Otherwise keep your car and tow a travel trailer with heat. You can't live in a minivan in a cold climate.

I would do this in your case Houston. You could probably make more money hauling and selling them from Texas than you will working there. Or buy/ rent your own land and set up a rental camp. Get started then branch out to whorehouse rvs. Be a pimp/ slumlord.

It looks like I might have to hurry up my move. I'm pretty sure I'm getting fired in a week or 2. I planned on working until I had everything planned out, but I think I'm going to sell my car ASAP and leave right after I finish my last class next month. I won't have enough to get a rv or anything like that fuck. I might get a small truck, a credit card and do it like that.

I'm interested in this possible opportunity. While I am broke as a joke (I'm literally foraging japanese knotweed, dandelions, garlic mustard, and clovers to replace the expenses of a food budget), I have a dream to follow in boston. Perhaps if I can do some shorter term projects? Would it work if I could do that month on month off thing?

I'm 23, have my OSHA, first aid, cpr, have some carpentry, landscaping and janitorial experience (no cedrts on the skills sadly). I have experience with many power tools, and experience with social networking/community organizing and event planning.

My main questions are as follows (because I've very limited internet for the time being): given a small samplee of my skill set, what would be the best rout employment wise for mucho dinero? Where should I start looking/what certs should I study to get so I can get out there fast?

OK.....So I am an engineer, finishing a MAsters degrees in Mechanical and Aerospace engineering in 2 weeks. I am trying to get the low down on the field type engineering jobs...ie Drilling engineers. I have been reading alot(but the jobs all seem to require experience), but I would like to hear from someone who has seen or heard personally the situation for engineers. Which types pay the most, and/or have the on/off rotation. I'll be ready to make the move in a month or so.

I only read the first and last page of this thread, so if the discussion has changed (which it seemingly has), ignore me.

I would just like to address the anti-degree tone in the first page. As someone who has worked as a hiring manager in the Northern Virginia area, I may be slightly off-base with this opinion- but to say that a college education is becoming irrelevant is just.. stupid.

Employers aren't dumb. If you have little experience and some weak major from an online degree factory, you will likely be grouped in with the high school people (a little unfair, imo- but definitely happens). If I saw U of Phoenix, Devry, or Kaplan.. I usually passed judgement before reading the entire resume. But if you put in work at an actual brick-and-mortar university or have serious experience in addition to an under-grad at an online factory, it DEFINITELY, 100%, gives you a leg up over the field. To assert that its meaningless is shortsighted and flawed. Degrees aren't what they used to be, but it's still a sound investment in your future if you're not functionally retarded.

In regards to North Dakota, this sounds like an amazing opportunity for someone who is willing to bust their ass for a solid paycheck (respect to you). Personally, I'd rather make six figures off a job that I landed through good contacts, networking, and a respectable education. I don't have rich parents, still have student loan debt, and abused adderall to obtain my degree.. but it put me in an awesome position to enjoy myself.

My point is.. it's not for everyone. Degree's don't guarantee shit. But they aren't worthless and shouldn't be portrayed as such to people seeking life advice. No one can take an education away from you.

Is anyone familiar with oil jobs in Texas? I told someone about this today and he said I should go somewhere closer. I don't know anyone working in them and have no idea if they hire crazy like ND.

If you have a CDL, you can get a job hauling crude all over the place in Texas. Same with ND. Baker Hughes has lots of activity in Texas.

Mikecf you should become a recruitment consultant!

With regard to feminists you are completely right there too, every day there is some post like "i'm moving to the Philippines cos feminists have ruined the usa" or "I'm less of a man since the sex and the city box set came out"

North Dakota in the news:

Quote:Quote:

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota has passed Alaska to become the second-leading oil-producing state in the nation, trailing only Texas, state officials said Tuesday.

North Dakota oil drillers pumped 17.8 million barrels in March, with a daily average of 575,490 barrels, Assistant State Mineral Resources Director Bruce Hicks said. That compares with 17.5 million barrels in Alaska, though still far behind Texas.

My father runs a directional drilling operation and has recently ended up working out of ND. They are in a pretty bad situation at the moment in regards to skilled labour (no shit).

He likes working for the Americans, in America. They treat him very well and make it hard for him to go back to Canada (incentives, bonus and the like).

I can ask him some more details and post back on here.

At this point he has good things to say.

I watched the first video. I have to admire the dudes dedication. 100+ hours a week, JESUS. He didn't say what he was making but I'm guessing 100k-150k.

Looking at the hours, this really isn't that great of money.

That being said, if you've got a shit degree or no degree, and have nothing else to do but bitch. I could see myself doing this. I'm sure it would be soul crushing at first but you'd come out a better person (assuming you finally GTFO).

I want to check out Williston during MDW, but can't find any hotels there.. hotels.com has no hits, choice and best western are over 100 miles away. What's available for short term accommodation for the weekend? Plane tickets are not cheap either [Image: sad.gif]

Are you going to check it out for yourself and forum members? Hell, I would sleep in my car if I was close by and come back with a data sheet. It won't kill you [Image: whip.gif]
