I personally am hesitant on dot com businesses. I remember the dot com flop a few years back and somehow feel that history will repeat here.

I feel the same. I declined to take part in the facebook IPO, too, but I also missed out on Google.

Most of my stock investments are of a hold-and-hope mindset with traditional, highly regarded companies - among others, I have stocks in General Electric, Kroger, and P&G.

I used to work for a subsidiary of Jarden Corporation and also hold a lot of stock there.
