I would hit Nikkis first which is one street over from Townhouse and they shut down at 1 and everyone goes to Townhouse then. Also James Beach. Those are the big three of the beach area right there.
Abbot Kinney area hit the Brig on a Tuesday night (or any night Thurs-Sun) when they have a live funk band there. Gets packed, chicks, and good music. The Other Room is down the street from The Brig and is beer and wine only but always has girls there Thurs-Sun. Even early week all these places should have some action.
Sunday daytime definitely hit the Whaler. The place gets packed, kind of scuzzy but always chicks there who get wasted and put out. Waking up with my head pounding next to some chick is the norm on Monday mornings after doing the Whaler on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

I've walked by the Whaler many times before, kind of your rowdy beach crowd right? Sorta like the crowd at Hermosa Beach. I might check it out sometime this summer. What's the best time to get there on Sunday when it's most live?

@quest I'll let you know if I roll. That doesn't quite sound like my scene bit I'm open-minded enough to try it out.
Question for all locals:
What are the best hotel pool parties this summer? Especially places without a bunch of doorman drama. The Viceroy on Sunday used to be off the hook but I don't think they're doing it anymore. Went to the the Marriott rooftop lounge across from Staples a few Sundays ago. The dj was great but the turnout was a disappointment.

Roosevelt and W I believe have decent scenes, but I haven't been before. I think going to Vegas pool parties has spoiled me to anything else.

One of my friends is promoting Mr. C in Beverly Hills which is a boutique hotel but based on his other events I'm guessing it is good.

Had that spot on my radar for a little while.
I bet by the time I get back to CA (undetermined) it sucks though.
If you go, let me know how it is.
I think that place would be unbelievably choppable.

Yeah G, I'm definitely gonna check it out when I get back and I'll report the findings.
The spot is always shifting in LA, probably faster than anywhere in the world. Hot one day and wack the next.
When you come to LA let me know and we'll get suited and lay it down somewhere.

They got this thing going called Soul Sessions every other weekend on the rooftop. The DJ spinning was Anthony Valadez from KCRW. Spinning a mix of soul, funk, rare-groove. They also had a live band. They really good, playing a mix of jazzy funk, fusion, soul. There weren't that many people there. I rolled solo, and it was people there mainly as couples or seated with their circle of friends but no open mingling. I just grabbed a beer and talked with the band members. I'll probably roll to the next one and see if the crowd turnout is better.
There's some upcoming parties at the downtown Standard by Afternoon Delight: http://septdelightla2012.eventbrite.com/

Good suggestions.
I live in Santa Monica and I am eager to check out this new venue that is opening in a few days: The Bungalow.
https://www.facebook.com/thebungalowSM
I just doublechecked, it opens on August 3rd. it is managed by douchy Brent Bolthouse, but considering it is in Santa Monica, I'm curious to see what crowd it will attract. I'm hoping for young tourists. Fingers crossed. If anyone is down to check it out drop me a pm.

Went to Bungalow, very nice spot. Mostly white beach glam bohemian crowd, average age around 27, maybe higher, good looking, cool crowd. They reminded me of photos I've seen of chicks at Coachella. Relatively few fat girls. The music isn't too loud, people seem relaxed though a bit cliquish at times, the ratios were even. Solid spot for day drinking, across the street from the beach. Mix of people seated at tables and standing.
Haven't been to the Huntley or Viceroy yet so I don't know how it compares. If Bungalow can maintain its pretty & hip crowd, it will be a solid spot.

Fellas, I am an L.A. native and these bars mentioned are straight trash...Which is OK if your into trashy dirty women that youd be embarrased to be seen with..Not my cup of tea but I would say here are my top 10 bars to get laid in L.A:
1. Busby's Santa Monica or Busby's East (collegey crowd @ both. If your looking for UCLA women peep Santa Monica for SC peep Busbys east)
2. Q's Billiards in Brentwood
3. The Association/The Varnish (Downtown LA, everyone that went to the Gopher and Broadway are now going here)
4. South (nice happy hour/weekend crowd here, co-eds mixed with the corporate crowd border of Brentwood and Santa Monica)
5. The Nine O (Right by USC, if your looking for SC women coming from wealthy families this is your spot! Weds and Thursdays are best here)
6. Barney's Beanery (Old Town Pasadena)
7. Bodega Wine Bar (Pasadena, Hollywood, and Santa Monica. For your well off, well kept, sophisticated women peep these joints)
8. Rene's (Santa Monica - Young post college/college crowd here)
9. Circle Bar (Santa Monica - Roll on the weekdays and the ratio is yours to take advantage of, also the only place i've run into with ALOT of brazilians which is rare in L.A.
10. Happy Ending (Sunset/La Brea in Hollywood, probably the trashiest on this list but still decent)
I've swooped/pulled/banged or whatever yall call it at each of these venues. The women are usually more friendly and open as opposed to the venues I listed on my LA datasheet mainly due to the scenes. Also you will not spend as much bankroll at these joints as opposed to the venues I list on my datasheet. Hope this helps, enjoy!
RC definitely knows LA and the westside specifically in terms of where to pick them off. All the spots he mentioned are PRIME to get laid and often with pretty decent talent as well. I definitely won't hit the Circle Bar and a couple others anymore but nevertheless they are good for the topic at hand. I'm gonna throw The Penthouse at the Huntley Hotel into the mix too. Pulling chicks out of there on a Friday or Saturday night is the norm in there for me. Also, its classier so you can gear up more for it. Bodega is also PRIME for a more upscale environment with an unusually solid ratio consistently.

Did you crib your list from this one: The 25 Douchiest Bars in L.A.
7. Busby's Santa Monica or Busby's East (collegey crowd @ both. If your looking for UCLA women peep Santa Monica for SC peep Busbys east)
23. Q's Billiards in Brentwood
9. South (nice happy hour/weekend crowd here, co-eds mixed with the corporate crowd border of Brentwood and Santa Monica)
8. Barney's Beanery (But the WH one, not Pasadena)
24. Rene's (Santa Monica - Young post college/college crowd here)
18. Circle Bar (Santa Monica - Roll on the weekdays and the ratio is yours to take advantage of, also the only place i've run into with ALOT of brazilians which is rare in L.A.
4. Happy Ending (Sunset/La Brea in Hollywood, probably the trashiest on this list but still decent)
I've only been to Q's, Circle and Busby's, and only Q's on a weekend night. Not my place to pickup, douchey stupid loud crowd. But it might work for others.
I know the girl very well who wrote the "25 Douchiest bars in LA" and she is Santa Monica biased as she grew up there and hitting the same venues growing up leaves a distaste for them later. The reason they are probably douchey to her is also because she has been swooped in the past from them and is now married and considers herself too cool and grown up for them.
