Karl Lagerfeld calls singer Adele fat

I love how she pretends to be okay with being fat, but then dresses herself and has herself photographed (in her promos and videos) in a way to minimize her fatness appearance. This is the height of delusional. You're not fooling anyone. I'm convinced that even the proudest, loudest fatty hates being fat. It's fucking nature. You wouldn't be happy to be gimpy or cross-eyed. They're just unwilling to make themselves un-fat, so they try to "own it."

I think fatties do get to a point where they stop giving a fuck about being fat and truly "own it." They don't necessarily like it, but they stop worrying about it. That comes much later in life. At 23, she's too young to have arrived at that point. I agree that she's simply being defiant, and can't possibly want to remain this way.

And now she's going to lose weight! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/art...-plan.html

You called it RVF. I like how she's framing it as being for 'health reasons' rather than for weight loss. Whatever.

Nice update. I was actually thinking about her music yesterday, I realized I hate it. I hate that whole vocal genre of white girls trying to sound like a 300 pound 50 year old black woman, with that matronly mannish pitch. Especially when you aren't a 50 year old black woman. Just another example of Anglo women trying to sound cool by 'out-manning' each other.

CAN'T TOUCH THIS

Headlines of the Future: 'Adele Loses 30 lbs, Curvy Fans'

It will be funny to see all the fattie defenders turn on her now. Or they'll say "I support her decision, whatever she decides." And then secretly hate her.

Also from the DM: Jon Hamm fires back at Kardashian, stands by comments that she's a f***ing idiot. Link

Agreed basilransom - if I want to hear a voice like that I go for the real thing and throw on Aretha Franklin or Ann Peebles.

Again, calling it; in the next five years she'll pull a Hudson and drop the weight (in part because she'll be offered a huge deal by Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers to do so).

Do you think she's somehow trying to imitate a black singer, as opposed to simply having that kind of voice? England actually puts out a lot of these "soulful" white girls, like Joss Stone, Amy Winehouse and even Lisa Stansfield before them.

Amy Winehouse is another example.

It's definitely a style that comes from black American singers. It's a stylistic thing and it can work for anyone who has the voice. There's no reason white girls shouldn't be able to sing like that. I just find Adele's voice less soulful and more forced than the truly great singers I mentioned. That's where it sometimes feels like imitation than something truly heartfelt.

Nothing wrong with working your voice in a certain way to hit a particular style; Mick Jagger went to an English private school and sings like an American rock/blues singer and it works. Amy Winehouse had a great, natural sounding unforced voice.

Not hating here; I'm sure Adele will grow into her voice more as she matures.
