Feminist & Former Australian Of The Year Finalist Stole 0k From Anti-DV Charity

I love reading these articles at the crack of dawn in Europe, reminding me why my itinerant lifestyle abroad is the way to go.

Australia has a serious problem with accountability and not-for-profit organizations/NGOs. Taxpayer money is simply thrown at them, with next to no prior investigation or subsequent oversight. Bonus points go to anyone saying they want to help immigrants, stop "domestic violence", or promote "gender equality".

Eman Sharobeem ticked a range of SJW-approved boxes - Egyptian immigrant, non-white ethnicity, female, claimed she was abused in her marriage etc. - and so she was elevated time and again to government positions, not to mention lauded as an Australian of the Year finalist for New South Wales. Her widely discussed "victimhood" and "inspiring" story enabled her to finagle her way into government boards and even carry out work as a psychologist, despite lacking the qualifications.

The big thing missing from this article is that Sharobeem represented herself as a long-term victim of domestic violence. Of course, whatever a self-declared DV victim says is gospel truth, so no one should be surprised that the other frauds and misrepresentations took place.

Here she is, for example, getting her finalist for Australian of the Year award from then Premier (akin to a Governor in the US) Mike Baird:

ICAC finds Eman Sharobeem acted corruptly, recommends charges

Former Australian of the Year finalist Eman Sharobeem has been found to have acted corruptly by the corruption commission which says the director of public prosecutions should consider charging her with criminal offences, including fraud and lying to the ICAC.

Ms Sharobeem was the head of two publicly funded organisations providing services to immigrant women and migrants in western Sydney. But instead she funded a lifestyle that included $13,000 in jewellery, Botox, cars and family holidays.

The Independent Commission Against Corruption on Wednesday found she misappropriated up to $773,000 for herself and members of her family for more than ten years.

"The commission finds that between 2007 and early 2016 Ms Sharobeem improperly exercised her official functions while service manager or chief executive of the Immigrant Women's Health Service and the person in day-to-day charge of the Non- English Speaking Housing Women's Scheme," the commission said.

...

Over eight torrid days in the witness box during public hearings in 2017, Ms Sharobeem denied having done anything wrong.

But ICAC found Ms Sharobeem’s evidence was often inconsistent, ambiguous and contradictory.

"On issues of substance, her evidence often deviated from objectively established facts. Such matters call into question her credibility. The Commission therefore came to the view that it could not accept her evidence on any contentious issue unless it involved an admission against interest or was corroborated by other reliable evidence."

The NSW Crime Commission froze her assets after she sent money to relatives overseas.

Ms Sharobeem, who had claimed to have two PhDs, was also found to have misrepresented her qualifications to government authorities in securing board roles.

"The Commission also found that Ms Sharobeem knowingly falsified information provided to funding bodies, improperly arranged for a family member to be employed at NESH and have personal use of a NESH vehicle, falsely represented herself as a qualified psychologist and provided psychological treatment to IWHS clients and others, and used false academic qualifications to obtain paid employment," ICAC found.
