Helen Mirren Thinks Men Shouldn't Put Their Arms On a Woman's Shoulders

Helen Mirren has stern words for men who put their arm around their girlfriend's shoulders

Dame Helen Mirren has said men should not put their arm around their girlfriend’s shoulders because it looks like a gesture of ownership.

The Hollywood actress made the remark as she likened women to toddlers who are still trying to find their way in the age of sexual liberation.

The 70-year-old who made her career in TV series Prime Suspect said: “It annoys me when I see men with an arm slung round their girlfriend’s shoulders. It’s like ownership.

“Of course, when you’re young, you want the guy to take your hand and look after you.

“But when I see girls being leaned on, I want to say, ‘Tell him to get his damned arm off your shoulder’
.”

The outspoken star added: “Women are still toddlers in this modern world, trying to find their position in the age of sexual liberation, birth control, education and financial independence. We’re still finding our path.”

Her comments came during an interview in the Mail on Sunday’s You Magazine in which she also suggested marrying late in life is a “good idea” and that young women these days have a “princess complex” because they want it all.

Dame Helen, who married US film director Taylor Hackford aged 52 in 1997 - 11 years into their relationship, is vocal about sexism and in June blasted the Hollywood film industry for its alleged sexist double standards.

She said at the time: “It’s f***ing outrageous. It’s ridiculous. Honestly, it’s so annoying. We all watched James Bond as he got more and more geriatric, and his girlfriends got younger and younger. It’s like ‘grrrr’. It’s so annoying.”

Newsflash – women like it if a man puts his arm around them. They feel protected. Also women love being touched up if they’re into a man – a woman will slap a guy if he grabs arse on the subway, but she gets wet when her boyfriend is squeezing her arse.

I think Helen's being miserable cow because she hit the wall a long time ago. Is she trying to make hover hands compulsory?

What do you guys think about this?
