A Canadian inventor breaking the world record for hoverboard distance. Tomorrow 10/21/15 is when Marty McFly in Back to the Future, used one. So I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up spread viral more than. Hopefully this comes out in a few years for the public, looks fun.

Romanian too. He clearly used Gypsy magic.

Why has the hoverboard got no handles to hold onto? If you fall off that you're fucked.

In Britain they've banned self balancing scooters or swegways, which is ridiculous, so good luck having hoverboards mainstream. It's the nanny state again.

So it's legal to ride a car or motorcycle which moves at a fast speed where you have to wear seatbelts or a helmet, but not a swegway that moves at a slow speed? I've seen people riding swegways, and they don't move much faster than a walking speed.

I saw one of these for the first time yesterday. Funny you just started a thread on this.

The first model did have handlebars:

It's cool, but the flight time is 1 1/2 minutes. We'll need some serious upgrades to battery technology before this would be viable.

I wonder if a ducted fan system would give more efficiency. It looks like he's using off-the-self propellers which aren't meant for these lift conditions. I further wonder if a small 2 stroke engine would give a better trust to weight ratio.

I don't see a hoverboard ever carrying a SAF (Standard American Fattie), and I don't see a healthy person ever needing one unless they routinely need to cross massive chasms.

Them whom I can carry, do not have need of me.
Them who need me, I am unable to carry.
What am I?
