Winter Escape - Best Destination? - GlobeTrotter - 09-16-2015

I am looking for places to travel and work from this coming winter (November 2015 through April 2016).

Which countries/cities would you suggest are the best places to spend the winter months from an overall lifestyle perspective - weather, people, culture, hot women, friendliness, food, activities etc?.

Budget is not an issue as long as the value and return on investment is reasonable. I typically would like to live in a furnished apartment with good wi-fi - since i will be working during the day, kitchen, pool (preferred) and close to all the action.

The cities so far on my list are as follows:

1. Vegas - (Winter months tend to attract a lot of winter birds and hotties from Europe and North America)

2. Southern California - San Diego - (Weather is good all year round, plus big time latina populace)

3. Mexico - (Cancun, Playa Del Carmen) - (Major Winter Destination)

4. Colombia - (Medellin, Bogota, Cartagena, Cali) - (I speak decent Spanish and have been to Medellin and loved it. Want to check out the rest).

5. Brazil - (Rio) - (With the Olympics around the corner next year and the $ doing so well, why not?!!. I've been there once before and loved it but want to stay there longer). Plus it's summer time in the Southern Hemisphere...

6. Argentina - (Buenos Aires) - Have heard it's very European and a fun city.

Which city/cities would you pick, if you had the time and money to spend this winter anywhere in the world - if you could work online/remote during the day and play in your spare time evenings/nights/weekends??

Some people like Cape Town in South Africa. It is certainly an interesting and beautiful city. Very cheap, all the modern stuff, food is very good, women can be good - but overall not fantastic. Lots of parties and nightlife and stuff.
Can be a bit dodgy in terms of crime though. I prefer Joburg myself though, friendlier people, more diverse people and nightlife is better, access to the nature, though Cape Town is surrounded by nature and Joburg is like living in a giant forrest.

Might cost more, but it would be worthwhile to find a place that doesn't celebrate Christmas. You run the risk of most amenities being either stunted or closed.

It's the worst time of the year for any gaming. Dare I say it a trip to a muslim country would make up for it!

Being an Israeli, I want to suggest the my Country.
Eilat - The southern city has an all year sunny climate. Great scuba dives, nice night life and a lot of Russians coming over (Girls as well).
Other locations are warm, and have a few days of rain per month.
If you are Christian - you have a lot of places to visit.

It is an option.

I have a couple buddies in Vegas who moved to Vegas to game basically and they told me it's all about the Spring and summer, winter Vegas is half of what summer Vegas is, it's popping on New Years though. I'd choose a city in Colombia or someplace in SEA, if you want to stay in the states I'd go with Miami or Austin, Texas for the winter.

Great suggestions so far - especially about Austin being a good choice and avoiding Vegas in the winter months..
I just read the thread on Playa Del Carmen and it's looking very promising. I wonder if that's a popular destination to work and play from during Nov-April.

Go skiing in northern Japan... that's what I'll be doing. From my research it appears to be inexpensive, perfect powder and a plethora of (female) Japanese ski bums.

Keep in mind El Nino is slated to hit the West Coast and its going to be colder and rainier than usual this winter, probably annoyingly so.
Las Vegas in winter is horrible, November is fine but December-February is pretty bad. Its cold, sometimes get snow on the strip. The only time its decent if there's a fight weekend and I have enjoyed Lavo Brunch in the past but I'm not sure they're going to do that this year.

If it were me, I'd go to Miami.

I live in Vegas, it sucks in the winter, I'm looking to leave vegas during the winter. Like Drazen said, its only good on big events like NYE, holidays and etc, other than that its slow and still expensive. the Return on cash to bang is very low.......during the winter, look towards Miami or perhaps Cancun, I'm not sure how good Cancun is during the winter, I heard its good.

Of the places you listed, I'd vote for Brazil -- Rio. I haven't been to Colombia, but based on what I've heard that would be a second. If you did Brazil, you should also do the coast of Uruguay at the beginning of January. Miami or Mexico also worth considering.
