If you look at the URL above, you see that the forum now forces https:// using a self-signed 2048 bit RSA certificate. From this point on, whenever you submit anything on the forum, it is encrypted before being sent to the server, then decrypted by the server. This ensures that your username and password data will not be intercepted, especially if you use public WIFI.

A downside of this is slightly slower server performance, but I think it's worth the cost. Let me know if you notice any bugs.

This is definitely worth the slightly lower performance that no one will even notice anyway, good implementation.

Embedded images and Youtube videos hosted on external servers won't show up in Chrome unless you click "Load unsafe scripts" on the right side of the address bar.

You should only have to do this once per browser.

Forum now uses SSL (https://) - Shrodax - 09-06-2015

Embedded YouTube videos have suddenly stopped showing up for me. I just see big gray areas where the video should be. Is that a bug due to switching to SSL?

EDIT: Roosh just answered my question as I was typing it up. Videos also aren't showing up in Internet Explorer. I haven't checked Firefox yet.

Forum now uses SSL (https://) - Soma - 09-06-2015

Videos aren't displaying at all for me (and others), and this started around the switchover to https.

Edit: Roosh and Shrodax beat me to it.

Edit 2: I have to do "Load unsafe script" every time a page loads with videos.

Edit 3: Works now after change to template.

Forum now uses SSL (https://) - Roosh - 09-06-2015

Try now, I made a change to the template so you shouldn't have to click "load unsafe script".

Here's a thread with a video so you can test it: thread-18625.html

Works fine for me.

Forum now uses SSL (https://) - Going strong - 09-06-2015

Works fine and without hassle here, both on Mozilla and Chrome.

Forum now uses SSL (https://) - HighSpeed_LowDrag - 09-06-2015

All good on my end re. videos and photos.

Good move on making the forum login secure, as well.

Speed is still good

The speed I am seeing is still faster than what it was prior to the steps to stop the DDoS attacks. I suspect that there may have always been some kind of low level attacks being done, but until it reached the level of taking it offline, it was not noticed and just thought to be 'slow internet'.

That would depend on a number of factors. First of all, does your laptop look like this?

You have to be more specific about the problem.

Forum now uses SSL (https://) - Horus - 09-07-2015

I can no longer switch to full version on my mobile since today.

Your user base is too valuable to be left at risk. I'm glad you decided to implement this!

Forum now uses SSL (https://) - The Beast1 - 09-07-2015

Excellent news Roosh.

FYI to all, most browser problems can be solved with a cache and cookie dump. Do that first if you run into problems.

I was having problems with that too - the login form at the top of the page and then the prompt to login when you click "like" didn't work. I was able to log in when I clicked the Reply button on this thread.

Are you using private browsing mode for this site?

Try what TheBeast recommends.

I can't connect to any of your sites using the Cheetah browser for my iPhone. Tried a cache/data clear with no help and it's been like this since the ddos attacks.

Safari works fine however.

I cleared the cache and cookies but it still didn't work.

I was no longer logged in on my phone since today. Usually I log in automatically.

So I reset the password. Interestingly, the new passwore was sent to my junk mail, whereas when I've done that before it was sent to my normal mail.

When I entered the new password on my phone it didn't work. When I entered it on my PC it worked after I was asked to enter characters to confirm, which is a new thing. This option wasn't given on my phone.

Edit: I tried again on my phone, and this time I was given the option to enter the characters and I successfully logged in. I can also access full version.

I too have been having a hard time just logging in since the https switch. The forum keeps telling me that I logged in successfully but then it keeps me in guest mode, despite multiple attempts to log in. I was eventually able to log in by clicking the reply button and logging in through there, like RockHard did.

I thought it was my security settings, but after disabling https everywhere, noscript and ghostery, I still couldn't log on. I'm using firefox.

Forum now uses SSL (https://) - tynamite - 09-07-2015

I had a login and posting replies problem but it fixed once I cleared all the cookies from the rvf site. Try that. Also don't rely on the page that keeps telling you to login. Login through the home page.

Forum now uses SSL (https://) - LeeEnfield303 - 09-07-2015

Yes, using both private browsing and VPN. Hadnt had an issue until last night. I can read the site, but when I try to log in, it says "Thank you for logging in" but then returns me to the login page.

I will try the cache dump idea and report back.

I've been encountering this yellow triangle on the leftmost side of the address bar, long before I joined RVF.

Since the recent DDoS atracks here, I started paying attention to the detail how every time I click on certain individual topics here, that same yellow triangle shows up.

I took screenshots as evidence and attached them here.

Please merge this topic to another appropriate topic; otherwise, let's discuss this yellow triangle.
