The next movie up for destruction- Point Break - rpg - 05-27-2015

Wow. Point Break is being ruined to satify SJW's. When will the fad of destroying great movies ever end? Is the narrative that important these days? Swayze is rolling in his grave.

How is this old movie being "ruined"? Is it being remade? Please give us some details, rpg.

It doesn't look great but it's not really being "ruined" is it?

Looks like a standard "we're out of good ideas so let's remake a cult classic" SOP that Hollywood has been running for a decade or more.

Flight of the Phoenix
The Poseidon Voyage (that Ernest Borgnine one)
etc. etc.
Episodes 1-3 of Star Wars were just the most abhorrent examples of this. The recent Star Trek reboot was just breathing air into the franchise before it started to lose too much value.

That looked good as fuck as far as action. RPG? Is there some Communist or Socialist agenda that you've heard about?

Thanks I directed it [Image: biggrin.gif]

It doesn't look like a complete remake of the original, thankfully.

I do wish Hollywood would be more creative but money is money.

The next movie up for destruction- Point Break - TheWastelander - 05-27-2015

That movie looks like complete shit.

A. So it's a steal-from-the-rich-give-to-the-poor occupy-type remake? I see your point.

B. No one is great at every extreme sport. Travis Pastrana came close - and practically crippled himself at 28 trying. Skydiving, wingsuits, freestyle motocross, snowboarding, surfing, plus weapons and inevitable computer hacking, etc...please.

C. The head thief doesn't have Swayze's charisma.

D. The movie seems absurd more than anything. Maybe I understand the "international financial" markets too much to believe that a group of extreme athletes have any chance of "using their skills to disrupt" them. I guess the original idea of a bunch of people stealing to keep their endless summer going isn't extreme enough for today's audience.

Hollywood wants to reboot everything now, because millennials are emotional and consume entertainment at a higher proportion than ever before. What better way than to exploit childhood classics over and over again?

Hollywood says...

They better not touch Aliens and Predator individually, although they already fused those in that bastard crossover film, Alien vs Predator. That movie had the original modern female dyke warrior, not Mad Max.

Don't forget the Ninja Turtles, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park and... ugh... Robocop.

The next movie up for destruction- Point Break - heavy - 05-27-2015

It looks terrible. It just made me miss P Swayze, as cheesy as the first one was. That said...

OP I watched the trailer this morning before this thread, didn't see anything SJW or feminist about it.

To what were you referring?

The next movie up for destruction- Point Break - Quintus Curtius - 05-27-2015

Actually I'm willing to give this a chance, just from seeing the trailer. Looks like a decent B movie action flick.

Yeah, sure, it won't be like seeing Gary Busey in his wacked-out prime, but at least it's not the grrlpower bullshit I was expecting. These days, that's an achievement.

Another example is Battlestar Galactica.

I remember sitting down to watch the first season. Five minutes in to the first episode... WTF, they recast Starbuck as a woman now!?

Obviously everyone in the A and B list of Hollywood passed on this one.

I remember seeing the original in the cinema on a date.

There's a scene when they're in "Australia", (obviously somewhere in the Pacific Northwest), and Keanu asks some random guy on a beach something and he responds in a fake Aussie accent.

The entire audience burst out laughing, and laughed and talked right through the 'tragic' end of the movie.

It's that type of film, so they could easily improve on it, except they already did: "The Fast and The Furious".

Another hopeful sign: love interest Teresa Palmer isn't an obvious short-haired dyke, as Lori Petty was.

I watched it, having not seen the original. Yeah, the female fighter jock was unbelievable, try-hard, and mystical, but Edward James Olmos made that show, as well as the female president. Come to think of it, I didn't enjoy the bitchiness of Adama's son. The interaction of Adama and Rossalyn were far more believeable.

Did anyone else see homeboy "Roach" in his cameo as an FBI agent?

The next movie up for destruction- Point Break - Nalka - 05-27-2015

What pisses me off is every other action movie these days is a remake of Robin Hood. In time and Elysium come to mind along with this one.

How?

It was a cheesy action/romantic movie to start with and it looks like another cheesy action/romantic movie updated for modern times.

What about this trailer is related to SJWs? Can you back this up with some sort of breakdown or analysis.

The next movie up for destruction- Point Break - Nascimento - 05-27-2015

I didn't like the original to begin with to be honest.

Hollywood spends a lot of time and effort trying to convince the proles that they're not part of the 1%, and that their anger should be directed elsewhere.

Yeah, it was pretty dorkish to begin with.

And yet...there's something about this movie.

Maybe it's the fact that Patrick Swayze exudes an undeniable charisma.

Maybe it's the manic, tweaker-in-decline weirdness that Gary Busey brings to the party.

Maybe it's the over-the-top early 1990s favor of the whole (am I wrong, or does Anthony Kiedis have a cameo role here, in the gang of surfer punks who attack Keanu Reeves at the beach shower?)

Maybe it's the absurd unattractiveness of Lori Petty in the female lead.

Who knows?

It was never a great film, just an eminently watchable one. There's a difference.

too late....predator is getting another film (apparently Arnold in it) and aliens 5 is getting worked on where apparently Newt and the other guy that died in 3 are alive lol

and that Point Break looks like total shit ...I thought it would be some shitty Chris Hemsworth type actor in there and lo and behold its another Australian douche off the neighbours or home and away circuit
