This is one of the things that many of the more experienced players highlight as absolutely essentially, especially if you're going for the quick bang. Not sure what the right search terms are to try and find literature on it, but from reading the forums carefully for the past few months I've only seen this concept mentioned in passing. I think it's a really underreported part of game and needs to be discussed in more detail.
Case in point: this past weekend I was at a house party when a mixed freshman chick with a banging body walks by. I open her, ask her about where she lives, etc. Throws me a huge bone and asks if I know X and Y guys. They happen to be really good friends of mine and I immediately brighten up, engage a lot more, open up, go for some neokino and comfort. I ask how she knows them, and she says she's hooked up with one of them before.
At this point, I immediately realize I need to project non-judgment loud and clear to perhaps go for an easy social circle bang because I'm connected to guys that are cool. Perfect, right? I had no idea what to tell her. Probably a shit test. What should I have said and how should I have reacted?
I simply shrugged and said "Awesome, he's a pretty cool guy, he lived on my freshman floor". But when I tried to continue on she seemed to shut down and get pulled away by a friend before long.

Joke, play it light ("I hooked up with his brother", anything to make her laugh, then immediately change subject back on track)
You don't want a girl who opens and shares that kind of shit tho. Any girl that talks about past guys might as well be a past girl to me

Yup Sonoma has the right idea. Immediately make a joke and keep it moving.
Example: Chick told me she had a one night stand with a dude who tied her up and stuff (Bondage type shit)
Me: Word, did you get to steal the handcuffs at least?
