You're seated and girl walks by and looks/smiles - best reaction? - robreke - 02-09-2015

Had this happen a few times in the last few weeks and I'm tired of letting opportunities go by without getting off my hesitant ass:

I'm sitting , either on my laptop and/or drinking coffee. Perhaps even eating lunch at a table with ( or without ) friends. A cute girl walks by and gives eye contact. She's usually on her way out of said establishment. She's just quickly breezing out...she noticed you before...and before she walks out....she's giving eye contact.

Today, in the bookstore coffeeshop, I got that followed by a barely perceptible demure smile and eyes downcast as she walked out the door.

But, because I was seated and didn't want to hop up and chase her...I just smiled and kept working.

What's the best reaction/approach when this happens. What you're doing here, if you approach, is basically hopping up and chasing her from behind. The key, in my mind, is to do this some way without coming off as creepy/chasing/ over excited beta.

Ideas?

Beckon her over with a hand gesture, since she's leaving anyway you may as well try.

I was thinking you could wink, but I think that's unlikely to start an interaction.

Smile back and say "hey come here for a moment, just one moment" using hand gestures signaling her to come to you. It's those gestures and your eye contact that are crucial actually. Verbally you can say whatever "hey I like your xyz" or "hey i gotta show you something" etc.
