For those of you who iron, what is the best iron that you use? Or do you combine spray starch with your ironing to get your garments crisp?

My iron is starting to fall apart and I am looking to get a new one. At times, ironing for me takes a lot of work and I want a smooth one that will glide and press the material well.

Cheers.

Ironing?

For fuck's sake, is this still a masculine forum?

Rowenta? The Germans usually don't disappoint.

It's a British thing, we don't like wearing creased up clothing. I suppose bathing, brushing the teeth and getting haircuts is feminine?

You're supposed to have some woman do it to you.

(huahua relax, dude, just kidding!)

Don't listen to the haters.

Any iron will work. They are simply hot plates with steam reservoirs.

As for starch, a little goes a long way. You may even omit starch altogether, it is more for formal shirts worn with a suit.

I find that irons with a thick base work well.

Remember to use only distilled water in your iron. I've had problems with using tap water - the iron in the water accumulated in the iron, leading to the iron in the iron to come out while I was ironing, leading to iron deposition as big yellow iron stain on my expensive tailor made egyptian cotton shirt. Never thought I'd have to iron out a problem caused by ironing, but that's what iron can do your iron while ironing. Use distilled water.

This is what you need, my friend.

I have an iron for certain things, but a steamer is where it's at if you're not trying to put creases into anything. The standup units are good, but that small thing is more practical and easier to store, esp. if you're on the road or living abroad somewhere.

I also have certain shirts that look great but tend to wrinkle a bit more than others. I drop those off once a week and it's worth the money to avoid the hassle.

Whatever iron your girlfriend/wife/etc. is holding.

Don't get the stainless bottom ones they'll melt your shirts. Lol

Get a Teflon coated one. It slides nicely and dissipates heat much better.

Definitely don't buy something cheap at a rock bottom price. I found these cheap irons 'don't work' in that clothes still have creases after ironing.

I ended up buying the Shark.

This is easily the best brand iron, extra bio-absorbable.
