Look Up, Bitch - Tuthmosis - 08-31-2014

I've been cooking up a new RVF/Twitter "art" project recently. This has less popular appeal than American Girls Be Like, but I like it more in some ways.

For those with basic Photoshop skills, feel free to throw in (though non-Photoshopped pics could be equally as effective). This has lot of potential for some lulz.

I'll be tweeting out ideas with #LookUpBitch.

That's pretty funny...I live in a crowded city and I can't tell you how many times a day young women literally walk into me because they are texting...

I let this happen, it's actually not a bad opener because then you can tease them about it.

This is something that I encounter every day. It annoys me somewhat, but doesn't fill me with despair as does seeing those who are glued to their phones whilst pushing a fucking pram.

I saw this yesterday with this mother walking her baby in a giant stroller/child mobile throne chair in the middle of the road. There was nice sidewalks on either side of the road but she was walking down a the middle of the road, one hand pushing the stroller, the other hand texting, not looking ahead at all. If a car came she would have been run over.

I don't think the 9/11 post is in good taste. I get the concept you are going after, but 9/11 hit a lot of us hard and some of us have ties in the wall street community with direct impact from that photo. I just think this one should be off limits.

That prince charming pic ^^^ is pure gold. Perfectly sums up the entire generation of women out there right now.

Seriously tempted to print out a hundred of those and post them all over the city

With all due respect, where do you stop with "off-limits" for comedy? I know the slippery slope argument is cliche, but it exists for a reason. Lindy West hates rape jokes, and thinks they should be off limits, but where do we stop?

I don't know the answer to this. I'm not suggesting a whole bunch of blanket censorship. Not my point. Every once in a while we can make a judgment call here and there. I think we have a good community here, and a respectful request to rethink the use of that 9/11 photo shouldn't be of big concern that it is going to immediately take us down a "slippery slope."

Tuth can and will do what he wants here...this was just my suggestion. The photo of the plane crashing into those buildings really hits home for a lot of people...

If RVF starts including trigger warnings, I'll be logging off.

Kennedy was assassinated. That hit a lot of people hard. Some of us have ties to something surrounding the grassy knoll, Texas book depository etc.. All Kennedy stuff should be off limits.

See.

Where does it end?

I vote to keep the 9/11 pic up.

Probably you stop where the joke ceases to be funny for innocent people who would rather their old wounds remain out of sight and out of mind.

Some of us live in New York and work in skyscrapers in the Financial District.

To be fair, there's no law against jokes that go too far, and that line is subjective. I tend to laugh along most of the time, if there's no harm intended.

@anonymous123: This forum does not provide trigger warnings for 13-year-old historical events. If an image that was once on the cover of Time Magazine has a crippling emotional effect on you, perhaps this isn't the right forum for you. Your use of feminist shaming language in the past seems to suggest that it isn't.

Furthermore, you should raise concerns like this over PM. Don't derail threads to create public drama.
