I was wondering how everyone keeps track of all their passwords to various things.
I remember someone posting about how they found a usb that contained a file with all of the passwords, and he mentioned how foolish this was. So, what other ways are there.
I figure keeping it online or on an app will also have serious security issues.

Use a mainword plus a variation for each website ex pizza______.
Then add in whatever numbers for different types of websites: example: 1-important, 2 - blogs, 3 - random
pizzaroosh2, pizzaemail1, pizzabank1, pizzapornhub3
Ive been using something similar for years.
And no thats not my password for here before someone tries it. haha

I set mine as invalid. Then when you cannot remember your password and enter it wrong, the computer screen will say "your password is invalid".....then you remember it

Usually it's an animal+ location+ some numbers from my previous address or a phone number. Sometimes a password on one site is a username on another. Also the animal+ location combo status the same and numbers get changed

Lastpass. I paid $12 for a year subscription so I could use it on my phone, and it has been incredibly useful. Nearly every account I use consistently has a unique nonsense password.
I understand there are similar services, but I have zero reason to investigate them. I rarely pay for apps, and this is one that I wouldn't think twice about buying again.

iCloud keyring. Autofill/encrypted credential storage that auto syncs between my Mac and iPhone... at the expense of putting my digital life in the hands of Apple. Hopefully it doesn't bite me in the ass.

the way the Korean military (I shit you not) made passwords was this:
______1qaz2wsx3edc4rfv5tgb6ynn7ujm8ik______
with the first and last ______ being a keyword very simple to remember.
looks hard to crack, but just begin to type it out on your keyboard and you'll figure it out.. lol

I started using
1Password a few months ago and I've really grown to like it. Besides logins it can also store software licenses, credit cards, alter egos and whatnot.
In general, I think it's becoming more and more important to have an overview of your digital trails and accounts. After 15 years on the internet it's gotten quite messy.

I use Atlantic's method, have been for years.
I also keep a document with most (almost all) of the password masked. This is needed because different systems require different things (symbols, no symbols, caps, #s, etc)

I use 1Password. Works on my Mac and iPhone/iPad. Also syncs with iCloud so it updates on all devices when I have updates or new passwords.
