Dr Paul? - Vaun - 11-01-2013

hey all,

was invited to attend this event tonight for free from this guy Dr. Paul. somehow I am on his mailing list, http://www.menspsychology.com/ He was on a few David DeAngleo talks in the past, and I wanted to get a few opinions on it before I spend time going to this. its a free event, but I also have to hit the gym tonight, and go out..

Dr. Paul has some really insightful things to say. He did a great series of free podcasts with Paul Janka here: http://drpaulmrjanka.com/

I got a lot of great nuggets from this podcast.

My personal feeling about Dr. Paul after listening to the podcasts is that he's a bit of a moralist and kind of wags his finger at things that don't fit with his world view (which his sells on DVD for extraordinary amounts of money). But he's definitely a very smart man and has a lot of insights into game and manhood that comes from his experience in clinical psychology.

yeah I have heard his stuff, I think it might be good for someone that hasnt really done any work on themselves(read a lot, talked to a shrink, learned social/game dynamics on their own), I had a gut feeling the free meet up was to upsell me into the 'bootcamp' he was having here this weekend. nothing inherently wrong with that, but I went and did a crossfit workout instead.

I've gone through a lot of Dr.Paul's materials and I really like them. His "Mind OS" system is basically a visual method of explaining how psychology and inner game works. I was introduced to the concept of "Observing Ego" (analogous to "Mindfulness" in Buddhism) from his work.

It had a hugely positive effect on me. I was 22 when I first discovered his stuff and I've undergone quantum leaps in maturity since then. There is a lot of overlap in his materials but I think the best place to start is the program he did with David Deangelo called "Deep Inner Game." I'm sure even experienced players can gain something from it.
